I would very easily take Barkov, Haula and even M.Koivu over him if given a choice.

Even if they don't have the same point amount - they're much more complete players and have some balls.

Haula is a defensive tire-fire. He would've made people cry in this tournament. Barkov, sure, he is better than pretty much anybody in Finland. Koivu, nope, not anymore.

As a center Koivu is better, obviously. But Granlund isn't a center. He is a winger. He gets results as a winger.

His results as a center have always been poor. Blame Marjamäki for making him play that position.

Good to know that our Swedish brothers can see this exactly how it is. What a pity of wasting such a talented young team with such a useless moron of a coach. Really sad for Aho, Rantanen, Granlund, Nutivaara, Heiskanen and most of the other guys.

It is completely moronic to say that this team lost to Denmark, Germany and Switzerland only because coaching. I would put lot of blame to players themselves. Especially our top six.

The 1 championship Jalonen has won't mean that he will win another. That's a long time coming.

2011 and 2016u20. Jalonen has exceptionally good relationship with the most important Finnish players, those 2016u20 winners, or so I believe.
Marjamäki has 2+2 contract with my Jokerit. I cringe already.

The Swiss deserved this win but I wonder why the Finns stopped playing ice hockey in the second period. Did they think they can repose on the 1-0 lead or what?
Säteri was beside Nutivaraa the best Finn this evening in my opinion.

We needed Russia or Sweden in the QF, the toughest possible from group A. It was the only way to get them focused for full 60 minutes. I'm sure this team would've had close game with either one of those and probably even beaten both. Jukka Jalonen era is restarting so there's light in the end of the tunnel.

Fin is such a superior team to Sui and had you had a coach who isn't a complete Pejorative Slur, you would have won. World Cup, Olympics and now this... We're only 'humble' because it's fashionable to be 'correct' about Marjamäki.
It would have been a cesspool of 'refs didn't call this and that' and 'you only won because of fluky bounces' when we would have had a 'real coach'.
There's no classiness in the casual Finnish fan, also not in many of the ones who type here.
They just shout at the 1st person they see from the team and repeat.

Granlund provided some backbone. But it wasn't enough. As a winger he could've decided games. As a center he's pretty mediocre.

I guarantee that with better coaching, with a team that has been constructed properly, Granlund will continue to be an asset for the team.

Faceoffs, awful second periods. The pattern kept repeating itself. The team was too young to deal with favorite position, which was seen vs GER, DEN, SUI.

Indeed. I wish there was a way to have Granny as a winger the entire tournament. Maybe Suomela in the middle.

What I wanted before the tournament was that only one of Aho or Granlund would go to center. Aho was better than I expected as center but still can improve with faceoffs.

Of course nothing is bigger than the 2013 silver. Going 9-1 in the WC was splendid.
But this one is still a very nice moment. Finland looked like impossible to beat & the best team in the tournament: mission impossible. Turning that into mission accomplished feels very good.

We played like shit against Latvia as well but we still won. You can have a really bad game and still win. Based on the quality of our team and our tournament in general, we deserve to be in the semi finals, and in my opinion so do you.

I'm actually more satisfied with this since I can enjoy the rage of senseless Marjamäki hating.
The guy that can't do anything right anywhere just lucked into 2 championships and a bronze in his 3 first years as a head coach. Sure.

All this stint proves is that he's not a tournament coach. That's fine. Outrage about this stint is somewhat fine. His resume as a coach is way better than 75% of coaches in Finland ever but sure, he's a **** coach.
The Jokerit stint will prove if he's trending up or down as a team coach as well. There's nothing to rage about, really. Other than the obvious loss here.

But is it really?
At Blues, Matikainen built a contender with the material and strong but not exceptional youth pipeline
Marjamäki was hyped, good season as head coach, then gets fired after singing with Kärpät and abysmal performansseja at Blues
At Kärpät, Marjamäki inherits dynasty, continues with it for a pair of medals

Was he just good, and lucky?

as i thought, this would be close game and hell yes, it was a close game! maybe some peoples here still underestimate the swiss, as they never had such a good team. now they will fight against the canadian, which the swiss have won the last two matches on the world championship!

I put all my money left on my betting account for Switzerland. It wasn't that big surprise for me. When we lost to Germany and Denmark, it was easy to predict that we will lose.
