I don't remember when was the last time we didn't lose important game to Canada.. And I mean WHC semifinal and also olympics and World cup games, as we have beat them in the WHC QF not long ago.

Checked, and we actually won in 2014 IIHF WC Quarterfinals, 3-2

E: Sorry, didn't read properly, you already mentioned that. Yup, Canada's always been tough to us.

I can’t imagjne Canada has any shot vs Sweden assuming they win this in OT. Even worse they’d be off a near death experience and team’s usually are better after that
Canada beat Sweden 4 to 1 in a pre tournament game. You are clueless.

Great game and very fun to watch, 1-0 but lots of action. Love to see the Red and White Grind it out.

I wouldn't put too much stock in pre-tournament games when teams are still figuring out their lines and people are getting acclimatised. Though I agree it's not like Canada wouldn't have a chance against Sweden, it's also fair for someone to have the opinion that Sweden matches up well against them.

Sweden loses to Germany barely beats Finland but Canada is no match for them after they beat them in the pre tournament and beat Finland too outshooting them by more than Sweden did. There was zero logic presented by the poster behind his statement.

Marjamäki is all-time biggest looser in finnish hockey.

Likes received +99999 :).

Some coaches are only good as club coaches like Marjamäki and our u20 coach in 2016-2017 Rautakorpi. Legit and respecatable coaches as club coaches but just can't do it in national teams. Marjamäki also failed in U20 and the last 3 big tournaments with men.

+ for this tournament were Saari and Timonen. Huge upgrade to Mertaranta.
Saari was surprisingly good. I generally tend to give a lot of leeway to play-by-play guys, but taking him on Formula 1 did becoma a task with the same old jokes race in race out and "has never been out of podium on this track when starting from first two rows" nonsense statistics.

I also think that he's awesome. Might even be my favorite. Close race with Mertaranta.

I'm so pissed on this loss so i won't comment the game but i say this.
Lauri Marjamäki can you please destroy and burn your 1980's gamebook and get the hell out of Team Finland immediately.

Man, Patrick Chan attends every Canadian hockey game every time he goes to the Olympics lol.

Meh, too bad. I hope Marjamäki is gone after this FINALLY. He has almost single-handedly torpedoed our future as a medal team. f***ing awful.
If YLE can fire Tapio Suoninen then GTFO with this coach.
Also as SWE also went out I don't care as much.

Then if Canada beats Germany.

"Well, you know Sweden...."

I wish the team would've showed some passion, some hunger. But that's what Marjamäki teams have been; Passionless hockey

Marjamäki might be able to update his pelikirja but not his personality.

So much mediocrity at display in Finnish hockey coaching. Is it so hard to be the next jukkajalonen? Every other guy lacks severely in one or another relevant/crucial aspect of the profession.
