GDT: Quarterfinal: Canada-Finland

Finland really can’t score from anywhere. It’s like watching Finland team of the early 2000’s.

Montembeault has been great, but give Canada those kinda chances and they score them everytime. You can really see the difference in the individual skill of play between the two teams.

I'm surprised I don't know this, since I've been watching every moment of this tournament, but who does Canada play next if we win?

IDC which players are there, a Canada vs. USA Gold Medal Game always gets the juices flowing and could help draw interest in both countries. I hope it happens.

Imo USA has actually been good enough to win for maybe the last 10 years? Tough luck and tough opponents a little bit too soon has usually been the problem, but USA is by far overdue a gold medal

He's a good coach but not good enough for NHL.
He has a more impressive resume than many NHL coaches. You, or me, can't know that unless he actually gets a chance in the NHL.

NHL is the best hockey league in the world, but not a holy land where everything and everybody is automatically better than all the rest. You should know this, seeing how EU player based teams outplay NHL players all the time in these tournaments. Why would the coaches be that different? There would most likely be an adjustment period for Jalonen, and he would probably work better for a team full of hard working non-superstar players, but he could make it work.

Jalonen has made mistakes this tournament (like not breaking the 1st line), but he has earned the benefit of the doubt overall with his previous work.

Finns need kind of miracle in the third period to turn this game. But I don't believe really in it....

So according to TSN that call against Monty was the wrong call?

That means only one thing: these refs are ready for the NHL!
