Those plays exist, for sure, but that isn’t always the case. And that last one was a perfect example - hitter used an extra wide stance to make sure he’d not get walked, mainly/only ended up making contact with one of the legs. That’s, at least, a trip, and the onus for that is on the hitter.Knees will ALWAYS exist. And they will always be going in the same direction as the motion of the attempted body check. A player is in his right to dive away from a check, but if they get hit with that knee in the process, the refs (NHL and IIHF) should be smart enough to realize the intention was a body check and the kneeing ONLY happened cause of the diving away action.
