Slovakia has not beaten Finland in like 20 years. It is bound to happen one day, why not now?Lets look how was it in NHL in season 2018/2019
Finland = Tampa Bay
Slovakia = Columbus
And the result was....?
It's Czechia for me ever since they made it a thing.I wonder will this newly concocted name for the Czech Republic take root and become commonly used. Some people don't like it at all and refuse to use it.

No. If US wins and Finland wins, its Finland-USA semifinal.if Switzerland wins and Sweden beats Canada, it would be Finland-Sweden. If Canada + SUI wins and Czechs wins, its Finland-Canada. If SUI, Germany wins and Canada wins, its Germany-Finland.If Finland wins do they play the semifinal against the winner of the Switzerland / USA quarterfinal?
I believe this depends on other results. It is not like that the "paths" are fixed now.If Finland wins do they play the semifinal against the winner of the Switzerland / USA quarterfinal?
Ok thanks "FinPanda" for the information. That's great. In this case my dream final Switzerland - Finland is still possible.No. If US wins and Finland wins, its Finland-USA semifinal.if Switzerland wins and Sweden beats Canada, it would be Finland-Sweden. Finland and Switzerland can't meet each other in the SF no matter what.

I'm pretty sure thats incorrect. They will reseed, let me find it from their website
On the official IIHF 2022 webpage it says otherwise. I posted above this message a screenshot.Ok thanks "FinPanda" for the information. That's great. In this case my dream final Switzerland - Finland is still possible.
It‘s on the front page of the official website. Maybe they made a mistake, I don‘t know.I'm pretty sure thats incorrect. They will reseed, let me find it from their website
Yeah, it also says that they will reseed on the “TOURNAMENT INFO„ page.
I guess its just the easiest way to show who are the QF teams.. they haven't figured out a way to make it not look misleading. Thats bad on IIHF.Yeah, it also says that they will reseed on the “TOURNAMENT INFO„ page.
Very misleading that image they posted on the front page (= the one I posted).
Agreed. They didn‘t think that image out very well AT ALL. Very amateurish.I guess its just the easiest way to show who are the QF teams.. they haven't figured out a way to make it not look misleading. Thats bad on IIHF.
Yes, if you look at my edit on my post, I quoted the very same paragraph you posted now.@BruinLVGA
I think "FinPanda" is right. Here the rules for the semifinal playoffs from the official IIHF site:
In the semi-finals the best-ranked team - criteria: 1) placement in the group, 2) points in the preliminary round, 3) goal difference in the preliminary round, 4) goals scored in the preliminary round, 5) seeding coming into the tournament - will play against the lowest-ranked semi-finalist. The 2nd-best ranked semi-finalist will play the 3rd-best ranked semi-finalist. Both semi-final games will be played in Tampere. The host if qualified, or otherwise the best-ranked semi-finalist according to beforementioned criteria, shall play the early game. The time slots will officially be determined after the quarter-final games.
So if Finland wins they can't meet Switzerland in the semifinals.
