WC: Quarter Final Thursday!

No medal for u Sweden. Almost no NHL players no Russia. Easy golddiggin years for Finland a few years a head.

Lets look how was it in NHL in season 2018/2019
Finland = Tampa Bay
Slovakia = Columbus

And the result was....?

I wonder will this newly concocted name for the Czech Republic take root and become commonly used. Some people don't like it at all and refuse to use it.

Your win is bound to happen one day. Sooner or later. I have a great sympathy for the slovakian hockey as long s as they stay out of our way. :D So I hope that our team send Team Slovakia packing. But let the better team win!

If Finland wins do they play the semifinal against the winner of the Switzerland / USA quarterfinal?

No. If US wins and Finland wins, its Finland-USA semifinal.if Switzerland wins and Sweden beats Canada, it would be Finland-Sweden. If Canada + SUI wins and Czechs wins, its Finland-Canada. If SUI, Germany wins and Canada wins, its Germany-Finland.

Finland and Switzerland can't meet each other in the SF no matter what.

Finland (please don't screw, I got enough grey hairs during Olympics)
Sweden
Germany (nothing against Czechia, just like Germany more)
Swiss (🥇)

Ok thanks "FinPanda" for the information. That's great. In this case my dream final Switzerland - Finland is still possible.

On the official IIHF 2022 webpage it says otherwise. I posted above this message a screenshot.

EDIT: never mind, it‘s just the IIHF who hasn‘t got an idea how to post the upcoming games. They will reseed.

I'm pretty sure thats incorrect. They will reseed, let me find it from their website
It‘s on the front page of the official website. Maybe they made a mistake, I don‘t know.

EDIT: I tend to think that you are right. I think that they will reseed.

In the semi-finals the best-ranked team - criteria: 1) placement in the group, 2) points in the preliminary round, 3) goal difference in the preliminary round, 4) goals scored in the preliminary round, 5) seeding coming into the tournament - will play against the lowest-ranked semi-finalist. The 2nd-best ranked semi-finalist will play the 3rd-best ranked semi-finalist. Both semi-final games will be played in Tampere. The host if qualified, or otherwise the best-ranked semi-finalist according to beforementioned criteria, shall play the early game. The time slots will officially be determined after the quarter-final games.“

Yeah, it also says that they will reseed on the “TOURNAMENT INFO„ page.

Very misleading that image they posted on the front page (= the one I posted).
I guess its just the easiest way to show who are the QF teams.. they haven't figured out a way to make it not look misleading. Thats bad on IIHF.

I think "FinPanda" is right. Here the rules for the semifinal playoffs from the official IIHF site:

So if Finland wins they can't meet Switzerland in the semifinals.

Yes, if you look at my edit on my post, I quoted the very same paragraph you posted now.
