This Team USA was just not very likeable. They had no real leadership and it showed. Samuelsson is the Andy Greene of captains. Very disappointed with all the forwards outside of Zegras. Oh well get em next year.

One last point.. it’s funny no one complains about how Finland plays international hockey, they even get praised for it. My NJD in their championship days perfected this style and were accused of ruining the league and boring play.
Both teams played heavily to protect the net and we didn't see an egregious amount of chances for either side. Doesn't work this time, but usually this analogy fits the Finns

Hah, it's mostly one sided :P

Us Swedes for the most part dont really hate on Finland, I always root for them against everyone outside of Sweden ofc and I'm super weak for Switzerland as well.. but after that. Always Finland =)

Haha Fair enough :thumbu:

he looked horrible this game. Made a few boneheaded mistakes. Especially late when he glided towards the puck thinking it was an icing with an empty net on the PP.

I have to agree. I am a massive fan of this pick, and still see him as a stud (1 game won't sour me) but he didn't have a strong game, but none of them did.

Your coach was horrid

I just have to laugh because anyone who knows or watched team USA this tournament knew they were not a great team or even a good team sans the Russian game. They have some individual skilled players which you saw one guy trying to dangle 4 finn's by himself. It's like someone didn't do their homework or really bad coaching. American fan btw as well. I would put them on par with Czech and slightly below Russia and definitely below Canada, Sweden and Finland. We would probably lose to the Swiss as well.

We Finns will continue being underrated by the US. I saw a pregame interview of their coach and he admitted to not knowing who Annunen is. He could be argued to be the best young goalie coming into the tournament by stats and body of work so far into the season, and the head coach doesn't even know him.
If it's any consolation, he now knows who Annunen is.

excited to hear more about how good Caufield is from habs fans...

its not like Caufield is 2 goals behind the leading goalscorer in the ncaa, and has more points than Zegras, Turcotte, and every other u20 players... oh wait.

Let's play grinders with Zegras at the end of the game when you have a guy like kaliyev on the bench. Frustrating as hell. The US coach is an idiot.
Kaliyev played a lot in the 3rd and didn't do anything meaningful.

You're trying to fit a fact pattern into a preconceived narrative.

99% of Team USA's roster was playing hero hockey, and so many of them think they can still get away with that trash.

You can't dangle through entire rosters 5v5

It's changing ;) Wounds of our painful losses to you guys has healed and new generation likes Sweden. Until you grow next gen of Forsberg and Sundin..

Really dislike the dirty play at the end. Lose with dignity.

Disappointing tournament for USA. Couldn't get some of their offensive threats going. Coaching staff had little feel for using the lineup. The futile 1-on-many rushes in the 3rd period were not the mark of a cohesive team.

Zegras, Emberson were the only players who were consistently impressive.

Very limited US team when it comes to offense. No creativity offensively and as a result no goals.

Is this serious? He was the only winger being rotated on his shifts. Brink was out there in his spot every other shift for that line. He played the least amount of any of the top 9 wingers.

Further, if we're talking about players not doing anything meaningful, there is a laundry list of forwards--close to a dozen!--who fit that description from today...
