But Russia beat the States? They also beat the streak. They also have Askarov. I'm just saying.lol

Semi's will be awesome regardless. Any 4 could win and I wouldn't be shocked.
1 games doesn't show who a better team is. If Russia and the US play a 7 game series the US comes out on top.

it wasnt a problem until knockout games. And even it wasnt really a problem for this game. Since Canada was clearly dominating. But next game most likely is Canada Russia in semis. And thats could be a problem. I am just saying that its OK to have NA refs. But at least for that game they could find US refs who can drive accross the border for that game.
stop your fn whining man... it is what it is .. Its a weird year with Covid .. blame the IIHF they call those shots .. Team Canada doesn't

I am pretty sure the IIHF was only granted permission from the government for specifically the teams to travel into the country and a specific number with each team. Every single nation was well aware of the officiating situation months before this tournament ever started. It's not perfect but not many things are with Covid...so it is what it is and people will just kinda have to deal with it I guess.

I think the IIHF was granted permission to bring in whomever they wanted, just the IIHF was too cheap to get a bunch of non-Canadian refs tested to the standard the Canadian Government requested...

I don’t think there’s ever been a Team Canada WJC game thread where there isn’t someone complaining about the refs favouring Canada

It's literally a European thing. Every comment section weather it be here, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc. They ALWAYS whine about either the reffs favoring Canada or Canadian players diving even when it's clearly not the case

Thats most likely and explanation lol. Looks like they have a shortage of money due to COVID so they have to safe each penny.

There were Finnish fans complaining about the refs on New Years eve as their team was being outshot 22-1. Like you would think there would be a moment of self reflection at a certain point that maaaybe your team is being run over by a truck and it doesn't have anything to do with the refs.

I only feel comfortable saying this in the privacy of the team Canada roster thread, but god damn am I glad that we brought in our bought and paid for good old Canadian refs. I look forward to a VERY healthy powerplay advantage against the Russians. It's like we're playing 6 on 5 out there and that's what we all wanted.

Edit: WRONG THREAD!!!!!!

So same apply to refs.

The government wasn’t concerned about the whining of a handful of international fans when making their decisions. If there was some actual controversy then your argument might have some merit.

The reality is you could hold a tryout for the 50 best officials at this level based on ability, not knowing their nationality, and 46 of them would likely be Canadian. It doesn't mean they will never make a mistake or miss a call, but just like I wouldn't want Canadian officials reffing the soccer World Cup final or the cricket world championships, having Canadian officials overseeing international hockey is still an acceptable scenario to anyone who understands the training and experience that our officials go through in this country. Obviously the IIHF agrees.

Just put a big asterisk on the tournament and we can all move on.

I don’t really care.

That was a great idea to do that GoFundMe page for Team Canada PPs.

It’s in the bag!

I hope the Tsn camera doesn't come into play again this year.

With all Canadian refs and a Canadian born camera this site might crash if both conspire to lead Canada to Gold. :sarcasm:

I hope to see you folks around in the other GDT’s, but in case I do not:

It has been an absolute pleasure to interact and learn so much about Czech Republic hockey from @Czechboy , @czechcanadian , @BigBadBoar , @vil & I’m sure there are more I’m missing.

I’ve mentioned it in your Team Thread already, but your group is so patriotic, while being so humble and classy.

I look forward to connecting with you all next year.

All the best to you, my HF friends.

You all "dont really care" until Canada team play in Russia or Sweden or Finland and lost a knockout game with refs of that team nation. I cant even imagine a sh*tstorm on these boards in this case. Lol

I for one hope that the camera is bigger and even more obtrusive.

I know the Hockey Canada president can manipulate it using a secret remote control joystick and closed circuit television to make sure it’s in place for any late game clearances.

I honestly don't think this last 2 pages of ref controversy are from the Czech posters... I think this is like last call and all of a sudden a few people walked in.lol

We had a US ref give 11 power plays to Team USA in the Gold Medal women’s hockey game between the US and Canada at the 2002 Olympics held in Salt Lake City.

It happens.

Canada still won BTW.

Our instinct is to be hard on ourselves for losses and then look for what was flawed and improve upon it, not manufacture conspiracies and excuses.
