Proposal: Q Hughes plus for Danault Clarke plus

Any kings fan saying no is hilariously homer. Quinn Hughes is a top 2 defenseman In the game and you’re worried about trading brandt Clarke who got benched several times this season? Lmao.
And Danault who does nothing for the Canucks. But Clarke and Greentree and draft picks would be an overpay unless Hughes is willing to extend with Kings. Even then it's probably too much.

Your point of perception is slightly wrong.
Yes, Hughes is a top 2 defender on the Vancouver roster, that is correct.
But you could say this for the hot dog salesman from section 318 as well.

The Kings fans do the same with Kopitar, they talk about top line and other nonsense.

LA just doesn't have the depth of assets required to afford Hughes and remain competitive. No point having Hughes if you get the team to get him.

He only wants to play with his brothers. Diminished value! LA needs a complete tear down and rebuild around youth.

The whole Canucks organization combined won't fetch Byfield.

Beside that i agree, this trade is not happening
Imagine being so delusional you think byfield is off limits in a quinn hughes trade. Gotta keep that 50 pt centerman in the lineup guys hes gotta truly break out one of these years, right?

To LA: Quinn Hughes

To VAN: Byfield, Clarke/Greentree, 1st round pick
LA has done some horrible trades in the past (PLD, Fiala) but it won't be trading for 2 years of Hughes. LA's management has said they are building around Byfield, Clarke and Laferrier, so those guys aren't being dealt. LA has one year of Kopitar left and two years of Doughty. What happens when those guys go and they make a ridiculous trade for Hughes who will walk in UFA because LA won't have a team. The three assets asked for are the least likely to move off of LA.

So if they make a trade like this then they are massively helping Vancouver's rebuild/retool and LA would have to rebuild in two years. Is there no common sense on this board anymore?

What if this was opposite when the Sedin's were in their last years and Doughty was at his best and I'm asking for Pettersson, Hughes, you're top prospect and a 1st. I highly doubt Vancouver fans would had said yes.

First, you might not like it or want to do it, but that’s what it would take to acquire Hughes. He’s at worst the 3rd best D in the league, maybe the best. The cost to acquire that is going to be insane, 2 years left or not. If this trade went through, LA would instantly be a better team. Byfield was 2nd line calibre this year, Clarke 2nd pairing calibre at best, and Greentree isn’t on the team yet. The arguable best D in the game has a bigger impact than the three pieces LA would be giving up.

Second, “massively helping Vancouver’s rebuild/retool” would be them being able to keep Hughes. The only reason this is being talked about at all is because people think Hughes might want to leave.

Lastly, you are looking at that hypothetical Doughty proposal through the lense of hindsight. If LA were to have shopped Doughty at or near his peak, that’s the kind of packages they would have gotten, yes. But in this particular case, it doesn’t make sense because Doughty had started to decline already by the time VAN had drafted both Pettersson and Hughes.

First, while Hughes is great, no LA fan has asked for Hughes in a trade. Vancouver and other fans have made this proposal. LA is not looking to gut their team for Hughes. Also, losing Byfield and Clarke is losing two major holes to the team now and in the future. There is nothing in the pipeline that will replace Byfield.

Second, Hughes wants to go to New Jersey to play with his brothers. Why would anyone want to trade for Hughes when he has told the world his plan.

Lastly, Doughty was definitely in his prime during the draft. Doughty won his Norris trophy the year before Pettersson was drafted, was a Norris finalist for the 3rd year in a row and high had the highest average time on the ice for all players. So he wasn't past his prime at all.

But this is all for not because Vancouver would be dumb to trade Hughes unless he wants out (which is a major possibility) and LA would be even more stupid to pay any price for the guy.

This post was all for naught because I already covered your sentiment. Like I said, you might not like it or want to do it, but that’s what Hughes would cost, and he would make LA a better team right now. And I never said all LA fans would want the trade. Also, it doesn’t matter if Doughty was in his prime when Pettersson was drafted. The package you suggested was Pettersson AND Hughes. By the time VAN had BOTH, Doughty was in decline.

Hughes+ for danault+ is an interesting frame work where Vancouver gets a center

What cap space do they have?

Buffalo will not trade Power for Wilander+ futures
According to Puckpedia the Kings have roughly 23.3M cap space to work with this summer with Gavrikov and Laferriere being the only key guys losing contracts, depending on how you view Kuzmenko I guess.

No GM is sending a huge package out for Hughes if he is just going to Jersey when he hits UFA.
Quinn won't be traded because he will re-sign next summer.

All this talk has literally come from a comment made by JR that he's already said was taken way out of context.
I have no doubt the three will one day play together but that will be near the end of their careers because star players, especially captains almost always stay with the club that drafted them in this situation.

Imagine being so delusional to think any team would actually trade their upcoming 1C for a defenseman that most likely won’t resign with them.
