GOAL: Beauts had been doing everything right. Finally pays off. 1-0 lead with 9:10 left in the first.
GOAL: Beauts take a 2-0 lead. Power play goal from Taylor Accursi.
Again a rebound. Again crashing the net.

The goal by Maddie Elia was her first as a pro for the Lewiston native.

With two goals in Buffalo’s 5-3 win over the Boston Pride on Saturday, Beauts forward Taylor Accursi has been named the NWHL Player of the Week. "The honor of being player of the week is absolutely amazing,” said Accursi. "I would not be in the position I am without my incredible and supportive teammates.”
Accursi scored the Beauts’ second goal of the game off a beautiful feed from Corinne Buie early in the second period to put the team up 2-0. In the third period she tallied another goal and extended the Beauts' lead to 5-1 after she picked up a rebound. Accursi has been a rookie sensation this season, taking the league by storm. She leads the league in goals with 5 and has a 41.7 shooting percentage.
She signed with Buffalo on July 5 after completing her collegiate career at Mercyhurst. Accursi had her finest season at Mercyhurst as a senior in 2016-2017, finishing tied for second in goals and points with 9 goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 35 games. The 5-8 forward from Ancaster, Ontario developed in the Burlington Barracudas program.
Accursi and the 2-1 Beauts look to be the first team to give the New York Riveters a loss when they host them at HarborCenter on Saturday at 7:30. "Getting the win on Saturday gives us some momentum,” said Accursi. “We need to build off of it when we face the Riveters on Saturday"!

The senior forward from St. Thomas, Ontario tied for the nation’s lead in points (6) and goals (4) in leading Robert Morris to a conference sweep of RIT. She totaled four goals and two assists in the two contests, including a two-goal, two-assist performance in Friday's 6-1 victory. She notched the game-winning goal on Saturday, the 15th of her career.
Howard is currently on a four-game point, and three-game goal streak. On the season, she has 23 points on a nation’s-leading 14 goals and nine assists.

Brittany Howard tied for the CHA lead in points and led the conference in goals scored as No. 9 Robert Morris split a pair of games with No. 5 Ohio State. Howard scored once in Friday’s 7-3 defeat, then came back to score twice, the game-tying and game-winning overtime goals on Saturday to help the Colonials earn their first win over a ranked opponent since 2014.

Team USA and Team Canada continue their rivalry in women’s ice hockey with a pair of exhibition games on NBCSN, beginning this Sunday, December 3 at 4:00 pm ET at Xcel Energy Center from St. Paul, Minnesota. The two teams will meet again on NBCSN on Friday, December 15, at 10:00 pm ET ET at SAP Center from San Jose, California.
This marks the fifth of eight pre-Olympic meetings between the United States and Canada this fall. Team Canada recently defeated Team USA 5-1, on October 25, at Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts. Team USA responded with a pair of victories against Team Canada in the Four Nations Cup in November in Tampa, Florida.
The United States women’s national team is highlighted by two-time Olympic silver medalist Hilary Knight, Brianna Decker and Amanda Kessel, and returns 12 members from the 2014 United States Olympic Team. Team USA won the first-ever gold medal in women’s ice hockey in Nagano in 1998, and has won silver in three of the last four Games. The United States and Canada have faced each other in four of the five Olympic gold-medal games, including in Sochi, when Canada defeated the United States 3-2 in overtime.
Since the introduction of the IIHF women’s world championship in 1990 and the inclusion of women’s ice hockey on the Olympic program in 1998, Canada and the United States have played for gold at every major tournament except the Torino Olympics, when the United States was upset by Sweden in the semifinal. Canada has won 13 of the gold-medal meetings and the United States has won nine times.

Seven Americans were among the 47 on-ice officials from 13 different countries who were selected to work the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games men's and women's ice hockey tournaments.
"USA Hockey is very proud of the officials selected to work the 2018 Olympic Winter Games," said Matt Leaf, USA Hockey officiating education program director. "These officials are well-positioned to represent USA Hockey at the highest level, each having been committed and dedicated to successful officiating for many years."

BROOKLYN, New York - The Player Safety Commitee of the National Women’s Hockey League has suspended Buffalo Beauts forward Maddie Elia for one game for her actions during the team’s most recent game, on November 18 against the Metropolitan Riveters. Elia will miss Buffalo’s game this Saturday in Boston. Elia received her suspension for spearing and butt-ending Riveters defender Kelsey Koelzer in two separate plays during the game.
