The Victoire PWHL Montreal

If she planned to play, I think she would have been picked earlier.

I think best case scenario is that nothing completely official was stated and the Montreal front office is going to try to woo her.
Maybe they came up with a plan where she could do both. 32 game schedule isn’t crazy. She could take a little time off at key dates like around TDL.

I know a player who was drafted last year with the team knowing she’d miss 1/3 of the season for school.

Yea, I read in an interview where even though Kessel's part of the management group with the Pens, it doesn't mean her playing career is over, particularly with the PWHL is officially operational.

She didn't play last year because she focused on her role with the Pens while also nursing some nagging injuries.

The thought of Kessel with Poulin is real enticing. And they also signed their final draft pick from last year Lina Ljunblom, who was in Sweden killing it (finished 3rd in scoring in the women's SHL).
And regardless of what she decides, it's still a risk worth taking with Montreal's last pick of the draft

Hell yea it is a risk worth taking. I don't know any of the players that were taken throughout the draft, but those who know say Montreal and New York had the best draft. That tells me that even if they didn't take Kessel, they would still have a great draft. Kessel is like the cherry on top.

Exactly.

She is a world class player. If she comes, it gives Montreal the opportunity to spread more talent across the line up and not suffer from the lack of depth they did last year. If she doesn't, well, it was a 7th round pick.

A year ago, there was a report that the PWHL had trademarked names, and Montreal's trademarked name was Montreal Echo. Not sure if that will be their name as that was long ago.

Kind of a strange name, it does have a nice ring to it though. They'll probably want to pick a bilingual name and echo would work well for that.
