The hosts (which include Tessa Bonhomme) say that it is going to be the same setup as last year in the US: YouTube won't be blacked out there to start the season, and they still hope to add a real media partner later on.
I hope they have legit talks going on, otherwise wouldn't it be better to just bundle some US games to Amazon with the Canadian rights? Even if the US rights are worth nothing, it would make it look a bit more like they have an actual broadcaster south of the border.

There are 90 PWHL games total.

17 Saturday afternoon games on CBC
16 Tuesday night games on Prime
57 Games on TSN

No games will be on YouTube in Canada.

I'm asking about online games. I don't have or want cable.

The CBC games will be free on CBC Gem.
The TSN games will be on their TSN+ service.
The Prime games will be on Prime, of course.

Tuned into a couple of games on YT yesterday between other games. YT feed froze and stream dropped, so technical difficulties still around.

This is hilarious considering the fact that I'm in Canada...and yet I was able to watch the Sirens/Frost YT stream this weekend, meaning they're not of all doing geoblocking for streams.
I was just basing it on the artices I read to get the broadcast breakdowns. Was it a live stream? If not, then maybe games are available on YouTube in Canada after they're over.

If it was a live stream, that means it was likely one of three things:
1) The article I read was wrong.
2) The PWHL changed the policy after the article was written.
3) Somdone goofed and forgot to turn the geoblocking on (or something similar).

The "no YouTube games in Canada" came from this section of an article from The Athletic:
Last season, every game was broadcast on the league’s YouTube channel. This season, however, each Canadian broadcast partner holds exclusive streaming rights to PWHL games this season, which means games will no longer be available on YouTube in Canada.

“The change is positive for the league because it helps us grow in terms of stability,” Scheer told The Athletic. “It helps us grow to ensure that the league is on the path to long-term health and that women’s hockey will be here for good.”
