But he did t due to forcing passes through 5 people. Giving up possession
No he didn't because of a combination of lack of finish and insane goaltending.

Great players will do the type of things you are talking about. Sometimes they don't work but more often they end up in the net. McDavid had a bit of a slow start but has been fantastic since Nov 1. He has 12 goals and 26 points in 20 games since then. That converts to an 82 game pace of 49 goals, 107 assists and 156 points. If that does not impress you I think your standards may be a little high.

Hasn't won a puck battle in two weeks.

That’s who Jeff Skinner is though. A scorer whose offensive skills are supposed to make up for his softness/defensive inefficiencies. If the Oilers were expecting anything different I don’t know why we even brought him in. He’s not going to change his game or work his way up from the fourth line. Krueger tried that already. If he isn’t playing in a scoring role he is probably better off in the press box.

If he loses the Rocket by one or two goals, that will come back to bite him.
Sure. But its hockey. Sometimes you miss. Greatest players ever in the game do and one of those hit post. People get so caught up in moment. You don't get all of them and a goalie can get in your head. We don't acknowledge that because of being Oilers fans in 2024. 25yrs ago it was us the Oilers getting backstopped to wins by Cujo and frankly we defended better back then. This Sharks team look helpless in own zone.

Anyway goalies are huge in hockey and sometimes all you need. I wasn't blaming any Oilers for how this game went.

Are goalies exceptionally good against us, or is our goaltending so bad average goalies stand out?
What do you think? Its an obvious one. But theres no way Askarov is an average goalie. He'll be very good if he keeps working on his game and doesn't get destroyed by a team letting opponents fire cannons at him. Ridiculous game by the Sharks.

That’s a little disingenuous considering this game was basically a carbon copy of last game.

Skinner shut the door on the B’s after the second too.
Sure, but where a club is in the standings doesn't always reflect on how much of a challenge they are for a goalie. Bruins are one of the worst scoring clubs in the league which might surprise some people. Sharks have a lot of up and coming players will filthy talent that can shoot and score and even vets like Toffoli that can.

Can't agree either that we saw Pickard throw a puck into his slot from behind his net or make 5 bad passing plays to his D like Skinner did last game. You have to watch more than just the GA but the miscues and mistakes a goalie is making. Pickard was beat on one shot he should've had tonight but Skinner would've let in that rip off the post too. Pickard also made some spectacular stops in the game Skiins likely doesn't have.

He did almost give up a the puck tonight handling it. That should be worth a couple paragraphs of analysis. ;)

Also, he gave up a complete stinker tonight.
