Don't really care - what do we expect him to say? Blame it on opportunity or himself?
Heatley showed he could score goals with not so talented people.
I'm also wondering how Puempel played with Kelly over the past 2 years considering Kelly was with the Bruins... are you joking and saying he sucked so bad he played for the other team? Don't let facts get in your way though. It's the end of the world! Just like when Prince left and now the Islanders are a powerhouse!
Puempel played 52 games for the sens with 6 points. Dzingel has 10 points just this year. I do understand his statement somewhat because he was stuck on the fourth line, but he was given chances on the top lines/power play at times showing absolutely nothing.
Dzingel on the other hand was dangerous even on the fourth line, showing something at least. I will give Puempel the rest of the season to see how he ends up, but I would say it is way premature to act like he is somebody. He could probably end up waived if he has a drought or end up on the fourth line again depending on output.
These comments make me happy we waived him. It just makes him look like a whiny kid.
I don't disagree with him in that he wasn't given a role he's suited for.
He was awful in every role he was given here.
All the best to him in New York, a place where he should see success as they score at will.
Barely noticed you when you played here, matt. You couldn't even pass it to Karlsson.
Puempel is the product of the "ME" generation hooray for me and the Hell with everybody else......
He is a prima donna and athlete who has been pampered in his life and he suffers from a sense of entitlement..................
1st round draft pick all adds to it...... All part of the society we live in today......
They should teach these kids to put a sock in their pie hole and shut up.... People watch him play they don't want to listen to his BS......
Can we stop crapping on millennials already? Puemple is hardly the first player of any generation to whine about his previous team.
I had this exact same conversation with a coworker at work about another coworker. I want to tell him to put a sock in it and just show me you can do a good job with simple patients.
As someone who's on the cusp of being a millennial (I can't feel good about being full millennial)... this is an attitude a lot of people have and in the nursing world that's ****ing scary!
I am definitely ok with him being gone. At least a player like Lazar just takes what he's given and goes with it. Or like when Pageau went back to bingo and he said that's ok... I'll just earn my spot back by being the best player here.
Ummmm saying nothing is an option, or taking the high road and keeping the conversation focused on his new team/opportunity.
Not only that, but he should really consider the fact the he very easily could end up getting waived again when the Rangers are back to full health...
I gave him the benefit of the doubt a lot in the past. Now I will give the 3rd coach in his career the benefit of the doubt in that he's not that great of a player, and that we can afford to lose him.
Too many other good prospects are going to be needing a look in the next few years, White could be here as early as this season. Puempel had his chance, and it was time for everyone to move on.
with a showdown against the new york rangers looming on sunday night, guy boucher refused to get into a war of words with matt puempel.
The normally talkative boucher was not in the mood to discuss negative comments about his coaching staff attributed to puempel in saturday's edition of the new york post. The senators head coach interrupted tsn's brent wallace mid-question, as the reporter was in the middle of relaying a portion of puempel's controversial quote to boucher.
"i don't want to hear about another team's player. He's not on our roster. I wish him good luck. That's it," boucher said flatly. "when they're here we talk about them and we grow with them. And when they are somewhere else, they are somewhere else."
in stark contrast to this comment, boucher indicated that many of his players have embraced his system at the 20-game mark of the season and their acceptance of his style is a major reason why the team is sitting with a 12-7-1 record. The club has cleaned up inconsistent play in their own zone and currently have the nhl's best winning percentage in one-goal games this season, showing significant progress from a year ago.
"those things - at the beginning of the year - weren't there and we know that. And to see the players growing that fast has been a real treat for me as a coach. It's fun to come to the rink. There's an enthusiasm and there's a soul to our team," said boucher.
Wonder if Zibanejad actually saw something in Puempelis and told NYR to claim.
I mean i think we could have put him in a position to succeed more but that might not have been in the teams best interest in terms of Puemple points vs Ottawa wins.
