He looks like he belongs
He gets fairly persistent brainlock in his own end when he should be making the quick play out of the zone instead of surveying the ice, looking for a perfect pass. He's gotten porked every game doing that.

Otherwise, yeah, he's been impressive.

Monty could pull another surprise but I think this team is unlikely to hit the ground running as hard as they did last year. Lots of changes to accommodate and work out, couple of critical losses up the middle and in leadership that will not be covered and made good quickly. Plenty of hard work ahead, and probably a need to try and grind out some results with really solid D and goaltending before the offense hopefully starts to click a lot more. A slower burn is ok, just a question of whether they can get things together with this current group or not once a few weeks have ticked by.

I know it's preseason but Pasta gotta do better then that.
Yeah, it's preseason and w/l are completely meaningless. And honestly I don't want the stars going all-out because they just need to get their game legs and avoid injury in these games. Still, game on the line in OT you have to at least make some effort there. It's about setting an example and upholding the standard that Bergy and Z set. Horrible look for Pasta. Still love him.

Wildcard maybe.

You can’t win in this league without a number one center.

It’s not a bad thing that they’re bad. Every team has to struggle at some point. They’ll rebound in a year or so.
I was on the positive train going into this season, this preseason has me very concerned.

Lots of lazy hockey from every vet on the team.

No way they get off to the same start this year. So much turnover at center, it maybe 20 games in before they mesh. Good chance they are playing .500 hockey that point.

It maybe pre-season but honestly they look mediocre at best. Good thing they start
with Chicago and Nashville but they better win those games because they hit the road
after the first 2.

Poitras needs to make the team at this point. Amazing game, guts, awesome goal, high effort level, noticeable every time he is on the ice.

Loved Kuntar’s game! I know there is no space for him really but I thought he played real solid, great effort, good forecheck, threw some nice hits! Excited for what he does this season in Providence.

Beecher to me deserves to make the team, loved his effort and skating. That one play he had, showcasing his speed and separation. Great effort. To me Beecher has played better than the competition in the bottom 6. He has brought more from what I’ve seen than Brown, Megna, Boqvist, Heinen, McLaughlin, Steen, Greer, Richard. I want Beecher over any of those guys at this point.

I feel like it can be a good learning year for some young guys being worked into the line up. I’m ready for giving Beecher and chance over what we know we have in the Brown and Megna types.

Lauko again great energy, refreshing player to watch, but he needs to tighten things up and maybe think a little more about plays and positioning, sometimes he seems a little too much GO GO GO and that energy isn’t utilized or directed correctly or in any effective way. Kinda like my other favorite energy player Anton Blidh. The high energy running around can be great but you need to have a solid foundation to make that work. I think Lauko can get there, hope he gets more looks in the bottom 6. The Lauko-Beecher-Lucic line wasn’t bad.

Lucic what can I f***ing say! Beautiful! Awesome game from Lucic, don’t know how many of those he will give us this year but can’t lie and say that wasn’t fun to see!!

Heinen, don’t hate the player but just want more, couple of terrible whiffed chances/bad shots. Was doing some things right but eh, kind of indifferent at this point and fine with letting him go. Wish he scored on one of this chances tonight.

All set with Megna- like Brown, ok PKer, ok positionally but not providing much else. I’m not seeing anything special on forecheck or puck pursuit, energy, hitting…got to do something well to be an effective bottom 6er. Plays die on his stick.

Shattenkirk ehh shatty. In a pinch I guess he is good to have around but I hope we don’t have to rely too much on him at any point this year.

Im ready for Forbort being waived. He had a goddawful first period. Settled in as game went on but not good overall.
Zboril Im rooting for but goddamn he makes it hard. Terrifying when he has the puck on his stick in the D zone. Sometimes he makes an alright play but usually overshadowed by his next move which is worse.

Lohrei a true rollercoaster of a game for the kid. Overall got some things to iron out but so much to like. Will have some growing pains for sure but great potential there.

Ullmark only reason the game went as long as it did. He was left out to dry all night.

one more game to see if Donnie goes the safe route or let’s the young guys play.

Still don’t like him, but he is a safe bet if you don’t want to gamble on youth
I think it’s safe to say poitras makes the team. That power move goal was disgusting. Kids got it.

Send him to the ohl to destroy it.

Or let him play at the the nhl level that he looks ready for.

I hope so, just don’t know what’s in Donnie’s head.

Poitras looks like a player ready to score 45+ pts as a rookie and be a -18.

It's really gonna depend which way the coach wants to play it. I don't envy the choice.

He's so much smaller on his skates that I even imagined. Charlie makes him look like a little elf, and Charlie isn't even NHL huge. What a big decision coming.

The Bruins actually need his offense right now. There is no one on this team with his vision and creativity.

Quite possibly, and I think it's one of the things that counts against the kids and their chances at this point. This team already has a lot on its plate dealing with extensive changes and overcoming the loss of a ton of experience and skill. Having to mentor, upskill and somewhat shelter youngsters, and wear their inevitable mistakes, would be a handful on top of everything else. One prospect, probably fine. More than that, perhaps not. That's if they're truly serious about competing hard for a Cup this year. If not, it's a different story.

I think they will be lucky to get into the playoffs. I do not care whom you have in goal if they keep giving up grade A scoring chances right in front of their net. Very sloppy and they will have to make very few mistakes in their own end to win this year.

Could be a long frustrating season.
