sexy toe drag by Pouliot

These refs are a load of ****.... If they're going to go by the penalty called on Staal, then there should have been 3 penalties already on VAN

One thing I've clearly noticed so far is that the Rangers D is moving around a lot more and trying to get to the center of the ice for shots, instead of staying at the corners and throwing stuff at the net. They're really trying to change shooting angles and open up lanes and get dangerous shots directly at the net instead of shots from far out on an angle

Team looks much better puck-possession-wise so far. Pyatt actually doesn't look so bad working them boards. He's using his body well... tonight at least...

Pouliot with the sick toe-drag. Dorsett being ***** in the corner and no call... wtf?

You're not new here, i figured you would have learned. Those people are not joking. Just go into the last thread when we lost and people were complaining about how terrible the team is, how bad the coaches are.

HOw the **** can you judge a team on pre-season games. Just absurd.

Observations, fine, but judging and predicting garbage years, is laughable.

There are "those" people that are going to **** on the team for no reason and any chance they get. They are defined by themselves.

The rest of us that do get mouthy during games like Machinehead and I just happen to be a bit more angry that most during games. The behaviors of the idiots that do happen to also complain during games aren't the same as the rest.

You'll find that has a lot more to do with the situations he was in, rather than his actual ability. I work in Economics, and in a field of Economics that is at constant ends with mathematical Econometricians who think they can use statistics as absolute fact and as a predicting medium, so believe me when I say I know how to pick apart arguments such as this.

First, Zucc had a very small sample size of games last season.
Second, his minutes were not him alone, but Mats and 4 other Rangers on the ice. He spent no time on the penalty kill.
Third, plus minus is garbage, 9 times out of ten.
Fourth, effort on the backcheck does not constitute defensive prowess.

I could go on, but it would become mildly redundant at a point.

1. Agreed, but it is all we have to go on. It can be an indication, even though variance issues will be bigger.

2. Of course, but if he is better than every other Ranger he has to have been consistently better than his linemates. Re. PK I said he isn't that good when the opponents have set up, which is what PK:ing is all about.

3. I don't think it is, at least in conjunction with other stats and when comparing players on the same team. Due to goals being rare events you get small samples and variance issues. But if the possession metrics and goal metrics say the same thing there is something there 9 times out of 10.

4. No, but it is a part of it. To me all I want in a player is to create more chances than what he gives up the other way. Zuccarello does this in spades. If he line spends most of their time in the offensive zone they will give up a lot less goals than a "good" defensive line that spends most of their time in their own end.

Canucks fan here, I never saw the "dive" but I was suprised that goal wasn't called off with two Canuck players falling on Hank.

Perhaps it was because Lundquist was coming out to push one of the Vancouver players away from the paint while another was being pushed towards the net by a NY defender.

Anyway more times than not that goal gets called off, justified or not.

When it's pre-season, you all need to calm down. YOu have an 82 game season and playoffs to get riled up.
