Kakko looked markedly less explosive yesterday than I recall, his strides looked particularly drawn out and long with not much speed gained, especially compared to the first game. Wouldn't be surprised if his leg is a bit stiff and iffy from the tumble at the end of the first PS game when he was stretching it out and taking it slow getting back to the bench.

The grind of the preseason is getting to him. He has hit a wall. He's not use to playing all these meaningless games. Should have kept him out of Traverse City. Let's hope he can get his stride back. He's completely lost his explosiveness. All this insight gained in one of the most boring preseason game ever.

Chytil is a classic example of a kid being rushed. What do we want him to improve? Confidence and poise with the puck. We want him to faster find passing solutions. Just be a little smarter offensively with the puck.

Sure some of that can come from age and experience alone. But for a center that it’s the core of their game and the only way to practice it is in games. The last two years — which is a very long time — Chytil has had very little time with the puck. The AHL isn’t even a good place for it, the best talent is in the NHL and the best checkers in the AHL. It’s not an easy league to play with.

Not saying any permanent damage has been done, just that it seems like we have put ourself in a bit of a troublesome position.
..
I have always believed that the "rushed' excuse is beyond absurd. Some succeed when they are "rushed". Others don't.

Fans love to blame management when a player doesn't live up to expectations. Players are responsible for themselves. Chytil isn't ready. Hopefully, someday. But if it never happens it will either be his fault or he wasn't good enough in the first place. Blaming management for unmet expectations is pure bullshit, unless you want to blame them for making a mistake at the draft table.

I agree with you...90%. There is still a component that is a product of the environment Management puts a kid in. Different leagues and situations are good for developing different things.

If I think a player needs to improve offensive decision making and puck carrying, 8 min a night on the 4th line at the NHL level with a coach who is on the player to just avoid mistakes is not ideal. Converse example would be an extremely puck skilled player who has no incentive to figure out how to use his teammates or execute defensive coverage because they simply don’t need to, to be productive in Juniors. These are very real things IMO, if hard to measure.

Development time at 18, 19, 20, 21 is something you can never get back or redo. Yes it is possible to overcome past mistakes by getting into a good situation later, but I would rather get it right up front.

Your posts are usually bad enough for this to be serious, but then again...it's almost too perfect as a troll post too.

Not sure whether to praise you or make fun of you...

Yes when is next podcast out I need to get updated "Kakko hit the wall" in preseason.

Anyway it`s always busy for their first draft year so hopefully Kakko is working on conditioning endurance - so Kakko can play an important role this season, because we Rangers can`t only rely on Panarin & Zib to show up. We (Rangers Town) want playoffs hockey and that`s why our GM sign Panarin for 11.6 mil $ so kind of pressure to perform this season! ;)

I don't know what game you boys and girls watch but DeAngelo is the best defenseman on the team and I didn't realize kakko was in the game till the second period. Maybe I just don't know what to look for, but all the guys that are supposed to be so great are invisible. I don't think these dudes are as good as some of the people are saying.

Low elo ranking @MrAlmost in NHL draft these days - It`s not Rodrygo Goes from Brazil and Real Madrid talent - it took him like 5 minutes to score. :)

It might take some games until they figure it out or a whole season based on lack of NHL experience.

I don't know what any of that means cause I don't know soccer. Sorry bud. Again maybe I'm just showing how uninformed I am.

It’s preseason...don’t get too high on the good performances or low on the bad ones.
Remember that Kakko is still an 18 year old kid adjusting to a different league and higher level of competition and entirely new line mates. He might not start out the season dominating or something. I’m confident he’ll settle and be one of the best forwards by the end of the season but he still may need to adjust a bit

He has only played in two or three games. Can't imagine he's tired already. Think he got a pretty heavy cross check in the back in his first game. More likely that, I'd imagine.

That's a fair point. But it would be nice to see someone besides Panarin be dominate. Kinda like the way Jack hughes has been dominate. Just saying. I know it means nothing and things take time but man was this dude pumped up this whole off season and he doesn't even have a primary point.
