My takes are the following:

Lias has secured his spot in the top 9 as all the work he did in the offseason has paid off and he looks like a completely different player and now the 7th overall we spent on him looks like it won't be a wasted pick afterall which was in question heading into the year..well done Lias as he's had a masterful preseason...phewww

Chytle..luv the guy and luv the skill set and I'm very confident he's going to be a bigtime contributer for us but lets be honest folks...he's been nothing like we expected and what I'm sure he expected. As I said a few times tonight and in some other game day threads, he's just not ready yet. He's the same guy he was last year and unlike Lias has not made the necessary improvements in his game needed to move to the next level.

He needs to go to Hartford to get some confidence and get his game in gear. He's certainly not ready for a 2nd line center slot which is what we all were hoping and what Quinn and the coaching staff were hoping and so with us having pretty much 3 weeks between games seemingly in the beginning of the season, let him play in Hartford and see if he get his ass back on track. He simply is not ready.

Hank looks like he's ready to play 40-45 games this year and if he can play like he can play at the high level like he did tonight 90% of the time and Georgie can play up to his potential the rest of the time, we should be in pretty good shape and no doubt be in the mix for a playoff spot.

DeAngelo looked fantastic and if this is what we are in for, I would have no issue at all and hopefully Quinn won't either no matter how much Trouba makes per year, if ADA is our QB on the #1 PP unit beginning game 1 and see how that goes

One more thing. I haven't seen what we need to see from Trouba yet or even Kakko tho he has shown a glimpse or two. Trouba tho has let's be honest again...blown chunks. It's early but it would be nice for both of them to at least show their A games like quickly.....OK I'm done!...lol

Chytil is a classic example of a kid being rushed. What do we want him to improve? Confidence and poise with the puck. We want him to faster find passing solutions. Just be a little smarter offensively with the puck.

Sure some of that can come from age and experience alone. But for a center that it’s the core of their game and the only way to practice it is in games. The last two years — which is a very long time — Chytil has had very little time with the puck. The AHL isn’t even a good place for it, the best talent is in the NHL and the best checkers in the AHL. It’s not an easy league to play with.

Not saying any permanent damage has been done, just that it seems like we have put ourself in a bit of a troublesome position.

Some Flyers fans are having a cow over Provorov's usage

The best part is that you know AV will be there for 3 years minimum

Just the way he is with front offices and his style of play, he isn't a midseason fired coach or a one and done guy... good though, screw the Flyers

My take on the 5th game. Seems like we took a step back. Looks like Quinn is still experimenting when he should be solidifying our lineup for opening day. There's one game left. What's with all the ridiculous line changes at the last minute? We were just coming together as a team, playing as a team, with close to our regular line up, and then, Quinn throws caution to the wind with all these ridiculous experimentations. No wonder it was a sloppy game, with not many playing particularly well.

You got to be wondering what is going through Chytil's mind. Does he really need a look on the wing when he played there all last year? It's no wonder he didn't perform last night. They are giving up on him already and the season hasn't even started yet.

We know what Chytil can do on the wing coach. He wants to play center, give him a chance while you can during preseason.

This team needs a bonafide 2nd center. How in the hell are the coaches working towards this goal?

There is one great takeaway from this game though. Hank is in great form to start the season. Also that ADA had a good first game.

I think lias should play with panarin and butch...because honestly...those guys don’t need a center imho. Lias can be a 2 way guy with them....play kreider and zibenajad together.

I’m exhausted tho so if I regret this post in the morning I reserve the right to pretend I never made it.

Actually I completely agree, that loaded top line I only wanna see as a mid game adjustment. This last pre season game I'd like these looks

Kreider-Ziba-Kakko
Panarin-Andersson-Buch
Lem-Chytil-Vlad
Vinni/Boo-Strome-Fast

Spreading those top two lines hopefully u get some mismatches, like u said Lias should be the safe player, give those two some liberties on offense. See if Chytil can grow into that center role and drive a line against some easier matchups. To me Kravstov and Howden to the A, personally I liked how Nieves and Lettieri have played so far, good skating, cycling the puck, showing energy, creating some chances, that's a 4th liner I want.

I'm not even thrilled having Kakko on that top line but for me it's between him or Chytil and at least for this last preseason game I'd rather see Chytil centering a line
...ok I'm rambling

I doubt we split Panarin/Ziba.

I still find it funny how things change so quick, all summer we talked about how the D was gonna be a weakness and our forwards were locks. Now the D looks solid and our forward group looks not ready. I mean any or all of Chytil, Kravtsov , Howden or Kakko, could end up in the minors.

Listen if the coaches don’t think Chytil is ready to be a top 6 center then he should center a top line in Hartford. He’s barely 20 years old. He’s not a guy that can center a bottom 6 line like Howden and Lias can. Jerking him around the lineup for another season is not going to do him any good.

He’s also very clearly to me not a winger. He’s lost there. If he’s not ready then go develop him until he is. We’ll ruin him otherwise. Both he and Lias were rushed as it is.

At this point I’d send Chytil and Kravtsov to Hartford to play 20 mins on the top line with an ahl all star like DiGiusseppe.

I don’t think Strome played well but he’s better than he showed last night. At least for now roll with him as the 2C.

I’d then in this instance actually start with 21 guys let smith be the 7th D/13th forward. Hardly any games to start. Put McKegg on the 4th line and waive Nieves no one will take him anyway. Bank additional cap space for most of October.

I don't think there's any real chance Kakko spends significant time in the AHL.

If Kakko wasn't a 2nd overall pick he could, but as things stand he wont. I hope he finds some fastness to his game, maybe his legs are just stiff from the summer training or something...he looks a bit slow out there.

Gonna suck when ADA has a tremendous year and we will have a hard time keeping him.
Where is he going? Being eligible for arbitration for the next 3 years is not the same thing as being UFA.

If DeAngelo performs well, then he will get a commensurate contract.

Andersson and Lemieux need to be glued to each other. They’re tremendous forechecking together.
Much as I think that Andersson has played well enough to be the 2C, I tend to think that a 3rd line that starts with the two of them would be fantastic. Of course, it requires Lemieux to play on the third line. Anyway, a third line of the two of them and a Strome would be fantastic.
