I liked that little Ratelle bit, pity it took the team so long to get his # up there

I enjoyed his NHL 100 article quite a bit when it was released:

Until the end, Ratelle inspired marvelous descriptions of his uncommon elegance, none better than The Boston Globe's Bob Ryan: "Others skate, but Ratelle glides," he wrote. "Others arrive at the scene as if escorted by 17 motorcycle cops, but Ratelle is already there."

For a team with no structure we've done well to play in 2 ECFs and 1 SCF. Imagine if we had a structure.

Yeah imagine.

We wouldn't have gotten our teeth kicked in in two of those series.

Regardless, this is a good team.

The issue is that teams with far less depth pass significantly better and play with far more speed through the neutral zone.

And AV's boss's boss has 6 million reasons why he won't allow that.

Dolan couldn't pick out Marc Staal in a photo lineup.

Puempel is on a one-way deal right? I can see him being waived and picked up elsewhere, unless he's kept as the 13th F

I also agree with Nieves and Lettieri both playing on our 4th line. With Grabner? That's a good 4th line in my eyes. Lettieri in particular is far preferable to Puempel, IMO.

Based off of the pre season games I'd go with Fontaine and Lettieri.

They'll go with Boo (who hasn't looked bad) and Puempel. I don't really have anything against letting the other 2 cook in the A for a bit.

I like Fontaine, but it wouldn't hurt to give him a little seasoning in the AHL.

Coaches tell players how they want them to approach the game individually all the time; they want to see how they handle different assignments.

Chytil looks like he was told to go out there and try to be more assertive and drive the play.

Andersson looks like he was told to try and play a simple, mistake-free game.

It is just speculating, but I know for a fact that coaches and assistant coaches will ask players to try different styles in certain games, or implement different things from practice - especially in pre-season.

Or it could be that one player is a lot more talented

Once we're in the zone the PP looks fine, but the dumping and chasing is cancerous.

This staff doesn't seem to coach the neutral zone at all. It just doesn't exist.

Zibanejad looks a bit drunk. Nash really does look like he's primed for his best NYR season barring injuries.

Flyers do a good job getting their sticks in the passing lane. Lotta deflected pucks fo rhte Rangers on the PP

Nieves with a dangle neutral zone turnover there. That's not going to impress.

yeah that was a bad decision, probably gotta dump that when you have teammates on the ice that need to change
