[FIELDSET="QUOTES TO NOTE"]

I’ve always tried to get myself into the battle.
I move my feet, support guys, and look to create space for myself where I can get off a shot.
I look to shoot from anywhere, even areas of the ice where goalies might not be expecting shots.
- Vinni Lettieri

I feel like me not making this team isn’t the end of the world.
It would definitely be tough, but it just means I would have to work that much harder to get back here again.
- Cristoval Nieves

Every year, if you look at the predictions, people always have us, ‘Are they going to get in? Are they not going to get in?’
We believe we’re a good team and once we’re in, with the personnel that we have, we have as good a chance as any.
Obviously, things have to fall into place and you have to play well and you have to be healthy.
- Alain Vigneault

Andersson and Chytil continue to get serious looks.

With how unorganized the powerplay has looked, and how long it often takes these things to get in rhythm, I hope that they begin to trot out combinations of players that they think might actually compose unit 1 or unit 2 in the regular season.

Tonight that might mean Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich/Nash, Zuccarello-Shattenkirk

I'd rather load the starters up on one unit and give them practice than mix them with a bunch of players likely to get cut.

Second game in a row without DD. Obviously they want to take a closer look at the kids, but I get the feeling that unless Chytil and LA really disappoint against stronger opposition, they're hoping to start the season with both of them.

If Chytil were to make the club right away, he'd have to be one of the lowest picked players (and youngest) to start in the NHL the first post draft season.

Matteau and O'Rielly are the only two lower picks I can remember getting a look right away.

Patrice Bergeron jumped right in after being a second rounder

Pastrnak was 25th, but started in Providence for 20 games before he was in Boston full time

I'm a McD fan but I though our PP looked better at times when he was off the ice.

I don’t understand how Chytil wasn’t a consensus top 10 pick

Apparently scouts had a hard time getting to the place where he played. He could have been "under-scouted" so to speak. If we hadn't taken him at 21, he probably would have gone much later.

With Kirk and ADA McD should NEVER see the PP again.

Love him but he's terrible on the PP

In 2014 he was pretty solid on our PP. For some reason he has had problems adapting in the last 2 years on the PP.

Agreed. Would much rather have McD reserve his energy for other scenarios, like ES and PK time - not so much PP...

THis kid was basically a year younger than every other first round pick on top of that. Did he really improve that drastically since June? Or grow that much? Think edge mentioned he has grown an inch or two and I noticed at least 10 lbs

He’s very strong on his skates for an 18 year Old and he thinks the offensive side of the game at a very quick level. I think he will struggle defensively but offensively he’s got everything already at 18. Amazing. He is a better player than Andersson right now and I don’t see that changing as we go along watching their careers

too early.

Chytil was a big riser in the spring. He was one of the youngest players in the draft and he played in a less scouted area while not getting a lot of ice time (allthough quality ice time vs Men).

Those are some reasons he wasn't even a consensus first rounder.

4 Goals & 4 Assists in 38 games can easily cause a player to not show up conspicuously on teams' radars. I can see why teams didn't jump on him as being a no-brainer Top 10 guy.

Snowfort, how strange that sounds. I'm trying not to doubt you...but how could an arena that players and fans attend be difficult for a scout to get to?

Thank God we had a European scout based in Slovakia that had no problems getting to Chytil's games in the Czech Republic. Jan Gajdosik had been following Chytil for over a year, noting his progress. He's the reason we drafted Chytil. Jan has been with us since 1993 (full-time since 2000). It's about time he hit pay dirt!

please, please, please....

with 22, 77 and 76 on this team, please never let 27 ever leave the bench on another PP
