Do you really want these young kids playing in the worst environment in the AHL? Hartford was an abomination last year, and I'm still wary about them this season.

Granted..Hartford needs some talent but when you're that close to playing an NHL game I don't see how it can hurt assuming they'd be called up at some point in the season.

Who else can be called up in case of injury and step right in at this point?

Knowing AV Puempel will be on the opening night roster. Not that i hate the kid or anything, but definitely would have some guys over him penciled in there.

I imagine they're looking at Catenacci, Schneider, Carey, and Nieves at this point.

Daneyko pumping Zacha's tires again. Deja vu to last preseason.

Zacha will be a top 9 player, but he was a bad pick. McLeod the year after was another bad pick, I thought Hischier the year after was another bad pick.

I think the Devils draft really well, just not in the first round. I think they've set their rebuild back a few years due to an inability to make first round picks. They passed up players like Provorov, Werenski, Rantanen, Barzal, Chabot to draft Zacha and passed up players like Chychrun, McCoy, Steel to draft McLeod. Too early to tell who will be the big missed pick for the 2017 draft, but I don't anticipate Hischier being the best player from that draft.

Yeah but they all suck lol

I would've said those guys too. I guess it just boils down to letting the kids get as much playing time as possible this season to help their development, while we see how our young guns that are in the NHL progress this year.

I like how you know this before the seasons even started.

Until this team adds a difference maker forward, we won't be more than capable of being a good team that makes an underdog run deep in the playoffs every so often. The teams that win the Cup are the dynasties. Three teams have dominated the NHL the last 10 years. It takes difference makers to become a Cup Contender, those guys are added through the draft usually, most of the time at the beginning of it. But thats not a discussion for this thread.

The good ol' give up mentality
