The play in that period looked like the first period of the first game of the pre-season. Most of it was shaky. Andersson stood out. Staal being the top six is not a good thing, unless the goal is to actually tank. McLeod serves no purpose in any hockey sense. Nieves is about to get passed by many better prospects.

I’m okay with someone shooting from the back end. Some shots will get blocked. His shots routinely get through and he’s shooting for sticks.

I saw one pass in the skates to a guy who was circling back and I’m not sure he couldn’t have take it on the tape if he tried.

BTW, aren’t you at hockey?

He put pucks in guys skates at least 3 times in the period. Two in the D zone, including one right up the middle, and one on the first PP. Probably just rust though. He connected on some other passes, but not much creative or that struck me as “wow, that was a good pass.” I don’t really have a problem with taking shots on the PP. some are going to get blocked.

His D zone positioning looks improved to me, and that’s my biggest concern with him. So that’s good.

Getting we looked nervous in his own end. That’s normal. The game will be much faster than anything he has seen up to this point. It’s good that he is getting in a game to see what to expect. He’ll need at least a year in the AHL before he’s even somewhat comfortable at this level which is reasonable.

Meskanen is somewhat more physical than I thought he would be. Reminds me a bit of Fast with his tenacious play near the puck.

The puck that went in front of his own net was tipped behind the net by the Devils player.

That first goal wasn't totally his fault, but he certainly contributed to it.

I’d have to see it again. I thought there weren’t any Devils around on the one I’m referring to. But you’re right, that just means he didn’t move the puck quickly enough. He’s much more decisive with the puck so far this period

lol Vats had to skate the whole width of hte ice and still beat McLeod to that loose puck
