Sanderson and Zub were much better.

When? It really depends

In 2023-24, yeah Sanderson was much better, he wasn't playing injured though and didn't have to play with a Zaitsev level player. He played with Zub who was a top defensive D-man

Another important factor is that he played with a lot of various partners over the years and often subpar.

"Watching games" is not enough. In the end, you still have to do a deep analysis to evaluate a player, like NHL teams do.

Sanderson is supposed to be a better player, just still growing as a player, he struggled a bit in the first half this season but has been much better since Hamonic got injured and Zub finally came back.

Zub is a defensive D-man, doesn't produce nearly as Chabot and doesn't drive the play. Yes he was better defensively but that's also the reason he is in the NHL.

I watch a lot of Sens hockey and Chabot can be evaluated for his own play, independent of system. He was coughing up pucks much more often, and I'm talking about in regular type breakout situations that you'll have in any system. He just didn't have it mentally.

Not sure what you're adding with this post, I said myself "He was partially struggling in 2022-23 and 2023-24" and "struggled defensively" so that was already acknowledged. I wanted to clarify that he was not struggling in 2021-22 at all, he was actually having an Elite season until he got injured.

I'm arguing that Chabot's woes clearly went beyond DJ Smith, and weren't just about his D partner, though that was a significant factor. Chabot was making more frequent mistakes in all areas. Now you can say you've already acknowledge that he struggled at times, but you're also putting more emphasis than me on coaching and team factors and I think that elides the bigger issues that Chabot had at the time.

Agreed, but you're not talking about injuries here, which played a big factor in Chabot's struggles these 2 seasons, he played through them a lot.

And I said "DJ Dorion" not just coaching. Anyone who followed this team closely and see/understand things beyond the surface know how bad Dorion was as a GM, just couldn't understand proper roster construction and DJ Smith is an assistant coach at best, not a head coach, who can't instill "team defense" to save his life.

I called it "DJ Dorion hockey" and Chabot played a lot of years in it, same as guys like Tkachuk and Batherson, they had developed many bad defensive habits.

Injuries and inconsistent/bad partners were just as bad factors so yes Chabot struggled these 2 season but it's not like there was not several factors playing against him.
