Kings already traded 2023 first and third round picks for Gavrikov.
This is second year in the row when they traded their first-round pick.
According to insiders their negotiation with Gavrikov is about to be completed soon.
There is no way LA will trade first round pick for the third time.
Philadelphia fans can only dream to get draft picks and young assets from Kings.
It is not going to happen.
I wouldn’t say we are dreaming of Kings assets tbh. Always good to have options and a bidding war though.

It’s not really my problem the kings trade their picks a lot. Hopefully you can sign Gavrikov and I agree then this trade would be dead.

FWIW Provy would be ideal for the Kings needs. He’d be a legit 1st pair guy there that everyone would be loving the move in a year.

In that scenario Vilardi, a 1st (maybe 2) and a good prospect goes back to the flyers.
Not if they aren't getting cap back. Not only is his hit pretty high(just south of 7M), but the actual salary amount over the next two years is over 17M. If a team eats that, or most of that, it's worth quite a bit in itself.

I wanted LA to try and get Provorov at the deadline because he had term. Now that they have already given up a first I am not sure it makes sense to move a third straight first round pick when the team is still building.

Like Provorov, and think the value here is fine. Just no longer makes sense after what LA gave up for Gavrikov.

Good thing he's not at $8.5m AAV then?

Bad thing is he's worst on the Flyers defensive corps in Corsi, Fenwick, on-ice xGF% and on-ice GF (By a pretty significant margin at that), has the highest off-ice xGF%. Doesn't have nearly this type of value even at 6.75 aav.

Yeah he's mediocre as f***, checked out, and overused. The hope is that "reputation and potential" fool a mediocre GM into paying more than he's worth.

In a vacuum I'd do it. slots everyone in LA just about perfectly.

The biggest problem would be the cap and that LA is lighting assets on fire like they're a true contender but they're just a darkhorse.....but I guess you could argue, even if aging, a Defense core of Doughty - Provorov / Gavrikov - Roy / Anderson - Clarke/Spence is Cup caliber

don't see how you fit Gavrikov in if Provorov is in the picture.

Would be something like

Provorov/Anderson - Doughty
Provorov/Anderson - Roy/Spence/Clarke
TBD -Roy/Spence/Clarke

Would be interesting to see if the pride night stuff has hurt provorovs value. It sounds like he wasn't terribly popular in the room before that happened and he became even less so after that. You'd have to be pretty confident in his ability to potentially damage your team chemistry like that.

I suppose LA has been willing to overlook far worse to try and get value out of a Russian defenseman though.
The NHL is no longer doing any pride nights...So I am guessing it will be a non-issue.

Provorov and Gavrikov is impossible to have by Kings.
Salary cap is very real.

Not surprisingly the pride night issues becoming more important than his hockey skills

Keep in mind that Gavrikov can’t provide puck moving and generally offensive skills Provorov can.
He looked pretty good offensively. Granted it was only a small sample size

Literally the first phrase of my post was 'in a vacuum' and the first phrase of the next paragraph references the cap.

If this trade included Petersen, I'd do it. Without moving Cal, the Kings don't have the cap space.

To Los Angeles: Ivan Provorov
To Philadelphia: Cal Petersen, Helge Grans, Arthur Kaliyev, LA's 1st

Anderson - Doughty
Provorov - Clarke
Gavrikov - Roy

This is under the assumption that the Kings are unable to re-sign Gavrokov in the coming weeks and they believe that he will walk in free agency.

Kings get - Ivan Provorov

Flyers get - 2024 first round pick, 2023 3rd round pick, Helge Grans
You were say snuggerd neighbors or bolduc and blues 1st this year. Those prices are far from close. Lol

Honestly I don't think the pride night stuff will hurt his value whatsoever. The thing that might hurt his value is the fact that his play has been wildly inconsistent during his time with the Flyers. That being said, playing with Doughty or on a second pairing is a much better situation for him than being asked to carry a first pairing when he isn't that guy. I think that's baked into the price though as a true first pairing defender in his prime would cost a lot more than a future 1st, 3rd, and good but not great prospect.
Yeah if Evander Kane can “rebuild” his image then Provorov is a cake walk.

It's a pretty mercenary league and if Provorov can provide on-ice value for teams, they will want him and they'll find a way to navigate the other stuff. Provorov's actions were polarizing, not criminal.

For Provorov's value taking a hit I'd be more concerned about teams really digging into his on-ice play as opposed to his beliefs. If they spend big to bring in a guy who continues to make braindead gaffes at inopportune times, fans won't be very forgiving. A GM has gotta look at Provy and know that his team can put him in position to succeed: Better partner, fewer minutes, strong system that forces him to move his feet and the puck quickly. He is a really good player in the right circumstances, but a really frustrating one in his current situation.

Everyone seems to love Kane on the Oilers. Don’t think you realize how little people can care about things after some time passes. Kane proved that with some good PR your own team will love you too. Much more easier to support a polarizing figure than a criminal.
