Would be interesting to see if the pride night stuff has hurt provorovs value. It sounds like he wasn't terribly popular in the room before that happened and he became even less so after that. You'd have to be pretty confident in his ability to potentially damage your team chemistry like that.

I suppose LA has been willing to overlook far worse to try and get value out of a Russian defenseman though.

This is under the assumption that the Kings are unable to re-sign Gavrokov in the coming weeks and they believe that he will walk in free agency.

Kings get - Ivan Provorov

Flyers get - 2024 first round pick, 2023 3rd round pick, Helge Grans

That's a lot of cap going to LA.

Does it work long term?

Honestly I don't think the pride night stuff will hurt his value whatsoever. The thing that might hurt his value is the fact that his play has been wildly inconsistent during his time with the Flyers. That being said, playing with Doughty or on a second pairing is a much better situation for him than being asked to carry a first pairing when he isn't that guy. I think that's baked into the price though as a true first pairing defender in his prime would cost a lot more than a future 1st, 3rd, and good but not great prospect.

Provorov (6’1 at 200 pounds) has too expensive contract (8.5 million) and do not have size Kings are looking for.
Also in LA, pride night stuff for sure decreased his value for Kings.
I believe LA will sign Gavrikov (6’4 at 220 pounds) for something around 5.5 million.

-Since when was 6'1 200 lbs. small?

-Provorov's cap hit is 6.75 million, not 8.5.

-Nobody will give a crap about the pride night stuff. It was overblown back then and since then the world has moved onto a thousand other things to get outraged by.

-After the way he played for the Kings after being acquired Gavrikov will get the free agency overpayment treatment that all players do (let alone a top four defenseman) and cash in at more than 5.5 million.

Kings D is small and not physical
They really need LD with serious size.
You can keep Provorov, his PR issues and his contract in Philadelphia.

No, it does not

Good point. The Kings currently have 7.5 million in cap space according to cap friendly and the only person they need to worry about paying is Vilardi. The Flyers can take back a player with some salary if necessary.
You have forgot to mention that LA need to sign Gavrikov, Kupari and new goalie.

Why dont we take this 1 step further. Since this would obviously take place after July 1st, add Carter Hart and Cal Petersen to the deal along with whatever's needed to balance the trade (Turcotte? Spence?)

Kings get their top 4 defenseman and goalie for the future, Petersen gets a fresh start after LA pays his signing bonus, Philly gets futures.

Have you at any time, actually viewed a hockey game featuring Ivan Provorov?

He's a big dude. He may not be extremely tall and stringy, but he's a beefy man. He's also very physical.

If you want someone tall...i've got an OEL or Tyler Myers i could sell you.

But Provorov is exactly the type of defenceman you'd want to add if you're trying to add some heaviness and physicality to your blueline.

I said the Provorov deal is if they can't get a deal done with Gavrikov. Kupari won't cost much. They already have Peterson and Copley both under contract, so serious question are they signing a 3rd goalie?

It's ridiculous. I personally would have worn the jersey. I personally don't agree with what Provorov did. However, the same people fighting for the rights of the LGBTQ community should respect Provorov's rights as a Christian to not participate in the event. He didn't bash, insult, or hurt anyone, he just chose to support the cause which is his right. I honestly don't think it will hurt his trade value at all but this world has gone mad so who knows.
I am not saying your opinion is wrong.
I just honestly believe pride night stuff will not only hurt Provorov's trade value to Kings, but they will not trade for him at all.

In that scenario Vilardi, a 1st (maybe 2) and a good prospect goes back to the flyers.

Price seems fair. Lot of cap as others pointed out.

Not really in the mood to give up another first if they can't sign Gavrikov.

Not surprisingly the pride night issues becoming more important than his hockey skills

Keep in mind that Gavrikov can’t provide puck moving and generally offensive skills Provorov can.

I think this seems like a deal that would make sense for both teams and is good value for both given where they are in their cup life cycle.

Personally, I want the Canucks to somehow pull Grans so for that reason I dislike it! ha!

But an interesting trade idea and one of the more plausible I've seen on this site!

Myers and OEL for Grans! Sold! lol

If the Kings missed out on Gavrikov. I'd rather the Kings go after a cheaper UFA LHD like Graves than waste assets on Provorov. The cap is too much for the Kings this offseason and don't want to trade for a goalie this year because the Kings can't realistically move Petersen's cap. LA should ride out the Petersen contract for one more season before anything happens with the goalie situation.
