Aside from a sequence where he lost his guy and was screening McIntyre, McAvoy looks like he's been at this level all season.

great, a D-man screening his goalie. Nice draft pick bust Sweeney:laugh::sarcasm:

Honestly, for as much as I was looking forward to seeing him play this weekend, I was anticipating a game where he showed flashes of good things but played more nervous and tight......not so, as you stated, looks like he`s been there since Day 1

Extremely small sample size but nice to see, really helps having a guy like Cross as a partner too

Heinen hits post, he looks dangerous every time he is on the ice

Debrusk looks like the real deal, skates real well, shifty, very noticeable when he has the puck on his stick. Willing to really work through traffic to get to the net.

He looked great on the PK too.

wow McAvoy could have had another assist there...skated right in made perfect pass to simpson and he missed the open net.

Great game for him!

McIntyre was so close to putting up the goose egg. Gave one up in the last minute for the 4-1 final. A two of three win weekend. Just 6 remaining on the schedule. Bring on the PO's!

Agree on both. Watched the McAvoy debut in Providence. DeBrusk much more pohysical than I anticipated. Looks like he mightve been a grown a tad too. Looks big. And feisty.

If McAvoy strings together a few games like this one, I definitely could see him joining the Bruins for the playoffs. I believe that's a bit of an end around and could have been the plan all along. To get him to Providence on an ATO and then when he signs his ELC later, he would be eligible to join the Bruins.

McAvoy debuted in Springfield.

The Sens did the same thing with Colin White.

How has Heinen looked in terms of his pace of play down in Providence?

While I liked his hockey sense and positioning very much during his stint in Boston, it just seemed to me like he only played at one pace, medium speed, and that wasn't fast enough for the NHL for him. If it wasn't for his exceptional positioning, he would of been completely overwhelmed at the NHL level.

Now that being said, pace isn't everything. Eriksson to me was always at medium speed, and he was effective. Heinen is a similar cerebral-style player, so it's not the be-all end-all, but I'm interested to see if he's adjusted his game to play at different levels of pace and speed at times, or is he still constantly on medium speed.

I think he was a little outmatched early this season in the NHL but also Bruins were struggling to create offense in the start of the season, Krejci looked bad, Bergeron was hurting.

But at the AHL level everytime Ive seen him play (12ish games total) he has stood out.

Against AHL talent his speed is really really noticeable and he always looks like an extra step ahead of people. Clearly NHL goes a lot faster so I think it's good he has gotten some time to really build his confidence in the AHL. But I really don't see his skating as a problem, he was skating circles around people every time he was on the ice the last game. I think he just needs to get stronger, stronger on the puck and winning battles.

Easily one of the more talented providence forwards in terms of stickhandling and passing too.

He didnt show much during his first NHL look, but I think he is gonna surprise a lot of people when he gets called up next.

Wow. I've been trying to find a way to describe his play all season, and medium pace seems to be what I was looking for. He's usually well positioned which gets him near the puck, not so much hustle.

That was my first reaction to the description, as well. I've also not been able to pinpoint it, either. I disagree about the hustle, though, because I don't see it as a lack of effort so much as just a pace he maintains. Not unlike Krejci, who also sometimes is viewed as a floater.

I guess I just see Kuraly, Debrusk, and Acciari more as hustlers.

Former Bruins farmhand Kirk MacDonald named ECHL's Reading Royals head coach after the team fires Larry Courville day after clinching playoff spot.

http://www.readingeagle.com/sports/article/royals-fired-larry-courville-as-head-coach

The Reading Royals have fired head coach Larry Courville and replaced him with assistant Kirk MacDonald on an interim basis.
An announcement was made by the team Monday afternoon, one day after Courville helped the Royals clinch their eighth consecutive playoff appearance.

Courville decided in February he was going to leave the Royals when his contract expired following the season. The two sides couldn't come to an agreement on an extension.

Any news on whether or not Gabrielle has reported for duty in PRO?

Edit: I asked Diver on Twitter and he says Gabrielle will be landing on Monday.

McAvoy, great on puck retrievals and moving it out quick and efficient, like how he has a physical edge, looks more physical than Carlo in terms of looking for big hits. Also pretty elusive, has already dodged a few big hits in the first.

I hope Carlo adds that to his game, get some real nasty going, with his frame he could do some damage.

O'Gara great on PK

Blidh is flying as usual, just almost had one, ran over the goalie too hah but no call, was really pushed into him

I think we are gonna really love Debrusk, looks like one of the hardest working forwards out there, not afraid to take a hit to make a play, works through a lot, just looks like a very determined player and though the individual skillset might not "wow" you with anything in particular, his skating and stickhandling/vision seem to be very very good, couple that with his overall determination and I think that could make for a really effective player.

I dont know how Mueller gets to play with Czarnik and Debrusk, don't like that line, all rushes seem to die on his stick and he just seems slow and sloppy. Kind of an anchor for the other two who like to use their speed.

edit..well then Mueller scores, wasnt pretty but big goal, Debrusk gets his 29th assist!!!

Breen gets his first, nice assist by czarnik, bruins up 2-1 late in 3rd!!

McAvoy out there in the final minute trying to hold 2-1 lead, good experience.

Pbruins come from behind in the 3rd and win 2-1 vs soundtigers. Pulock looks solid.

Zane played great!

McAvoy has been a treat to watch the past couple of games. Accurate passes, some good, hard hits without taking himself out of position, and he seems mature beyond his years.

Prov. with a very hard-fought victory tonight, I believe they are now in second place in their division and conference.

Thanks to Wack Edwards for his recap. Much appreciated as usual.

Big win over a Bridgeport team on their heels in the PO race that has given them some trouble all season. They have the back end of the home and home on the schedule today.

Muller and Breen with the goals in a 2-1 victory. Team continues to get contributions from many players as opposed to relying on just a few key players. Primed for a good PO run.
