Athletic's projected roster for the upcoming WJC's. Based on this, we would have in:

Wood
Molendyk
Edström
Nilsson
Stiga
Milota

Most players ever by the Preds in a single tournament?
6 doesn't seem THAT high? Several teams have had 10 or so some years? I would like to think at least somewhere along the way we hit that level... although I'm definitely waaaaay to lazy to try to look it up. :dunno:

It's still higher than 2 or 3 like we might have had in some years. And of course, having Russia out of things lately has lost us a few candidates.

Considering we havent had a ton of high round draft picks this seems quite solid. Though im not sure how Milota got there

Some college player are doing great

Oldest to youngest
22 O Hara - 7G 15A 22P 16 games
20 Fink - 8G 14A 22P 15 games
19 Wood - 6G 14A 20P 18 games
18 Stiga - 4G 7A 11P 16 games

O Hara, Fink, and Wood maintaining a Point+ per game. Change of scenery really helping Wood this year.
Stiga is still quite young but doing excellent.

And later this afternoon he was cut. Gibson and Molendyk both made it. Reports were that Gibson looked great, top defensive d in camp.
Never a good look when a returnee can't make the team. But I guess Canada had more options this year than they did last year.

They did also cut 2024 3OA Sennecke and WHL points leader Cristall. I figure they had clear roles they wanted to fill with their guys, and Wood's really not a bottom-six guy.

So, not overly concerning when you factor in everything. Hopefully, this decision lights a fire under him and he torches NCAA this year.

Any idea if the fact he's playing for a US college not Canadian Jr was a factor?

3 preds drafted players on the swedish preliminary roster:

C David Edstrom (1st round)
C/W Felix Nilsson (2nd round)
D Viggo Gustafsson (3rd round)

Gustafsson is the surprise selection
I would think Edström is a lock to make the team but what do you think about Nilsson and Gustafsson? What are their chances of making the team?

Looking at Fink's stats, I like his progression. He plays well his first year at whatever level he's at and comes back the next year and takes it up a notch. This year is no different. That's the type of progress you hope to see in your prospects.

unlike Wood who is regressing back to his draft year level of production (on a much better team), Fink continues to outproduce him on a worse team in the same conference where he is the main play driver

In fact, Fink has out produced Wood in every year they have both played D1 hockey

It is confounding that the leaders of mom’s basement keyboard battalion @Porter Stoutheart @101st_fan @Bringer of Jollity @ShagDaddy @BigFatCat999 dont see him more than a middling prospect.

Based on production and pNHLe, he is our TOP prospect

addendum: Fink is currently 4TH OVERALL in NCAA scoring as a sophmore. No 5 is Gabe Perrault . While they are technically tied in pts Fink has one more goal than him.

They are almost the exact same size as well. Any sane ans reasonable person cannot deny this guys production, accomplishments and upside moving fwd.

I think I’m with you soccer guy from Atlanta, Fink is the second coming of Gretzky and will be the savior of the organization. He’ll have the first 100 goal season in NHL history, possibly his rookie season. They’ll have to rename the Rocket Richard trophy to the Flying Fink Trophy half way through his career because he’s going to make such a mockery of the goal tenders in the league.

Take the L like a gentleman and admit you are wrong and enjoy this poverty franchise actually striking a diamond in the rough for the first time in almost a decade (Arvidsson being the last one)

I want to see him slotted along with 80 point Tommy Novak, and bring back 30 goal Tanner Jeannot to play with them.
