It was a razor thin margin for me but that was ultimately the reasoning I used to put ASP first and Cossa second. Cossa has looked great no doubt, but ASP is distinguishing himself from his comparable competition more than Cossa is IMO, though it's marginal. I think those have to be the top 2 at this point, but you can make a completely justifiable argument in favour of either of them. What gives ASP the edge for me is that he's doing some historically special things production-wise at the moment, while Cossa is 'just' very talented and solid. I think if a prospect is matching or exceeding the same-level production of an all-time great like Karlsson, he has to be the #1 prospect.
Danielson and Kasper have looked good, especially the latter with how he's looked in the NHL, but neither of them are head and shoulders above the vast majority of their peers like ASP and Cossa are. MBN just hasn't shown enough at this point, though that's not his fault since he hasn't really had the opportunity to do so yet.
Yeah I like ASP’s upside more than any forward we have at the moment. That’s why I had him at #2. I just think that is somewhat capped because I think he will likely be an offensive specialist as an NHL player (see Ghost, Hronek, etc.). Would love for his game to continue to grow and be wrong on that though.
Cossa has all the tools you would need to be elite at his position.
Great points. These were basically the arguments in my head in trying to decide who to rank first between those two. I went with Cossa by the slimmest of margins after leaning more towards projection than current level of play, but I don't blame any of you who went with ASP.
