thats the way i think that 4 line will be.. but lots of moving parts on this team.. AV seems to like his fowards in pairs and switch thru the remaining guys.. He did it in Van.. His comments as a NYR coach are about the same..

You would think eventually thats the fourth line with everyone back.. But if lindberg makes the team out of camp i would expect him to center line 3.. the team isnt deep as of yet.. Honestly right now boyle and moore are the only two known and reliable defense centers.

I'll go on record as to say that I'll puke if Boyle is anywhere near the first 3 lines.

Brian Boyle has done this twice. Once to save his job on this team and prevent being traded to a team as depth and now once more. He stepped up when he had to and earned the trust and love of Torts with those skating lessons and goals that one year. Then, after a pretty useless season offensively, the new coach comes in stressing bottom 6 type guys need to also be able to play hockey and contribute offensively (at least with transition), he comes back with a great camp. He'll find a way to be around until he is no longer at an NHL level I'm sure....

Surprised this hasn't been close yet lol.............based on current roster the below but I think a body is moved

With everyone healthy gonna say
Hagelin , Stepan, Callahan
Nash, Richards, Kreider
Pouliott, Brassard, Zuccarello
Boyle, Moore, Dorsett,
Pyatt

Kristo and a one of Asham/Powe subbing in for Cally and Hags to start the yr

Asham and Powe will be waived and both in minors eventually

D and G is pretty set so wont bother

There's alot of information in this link posted in the preseason camp thread:

http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/rangerrants/vigneault_checks_in_from_banff/

Forward:
Line 1*: Kreider-Richards-Nash
Line 2: Hagelin-Stepan-Callahan
Line 3*: Pouilot-Brassard-Zuccarello
Line 4: Boyle-Moore-Dorsett...

While Cally and Hags are injured, we'll probably see Fast and Kristo in play. just my gut feeling.
If god forbid Step does not sign, expect Lindberg to take one of the center slots, and then Line 3 becomes line 2, line 2 becomes line 3.

very good chance we'll see Boyle on Wing, especially if Step signs according to AV...

Defense:

Line 1*: McDonagh-Girardi
Line 2*: Staal-Del Zotto
Line 3*: Moore-Stralman

* = according to above article

I'd love for Haley to get some ice time on this team... Haley is critical for the 4th line. Perhaps that makes Boyle expendable at the trade deadline with only a year on his contract left. Boyle though he plays the boards well (my opinion), he brings nearly zero skill to the table... Unfortunately, AV sees an upside in him, so that isn't happening

One of Asham or Powe gets buried in the minors, probably traded at the deadline.

This is, of course, assuming that Bickel gets nowhere near this roster :o

Off topic, but this was a refreshing read:

http://snyrangersblog.com/2013-14/2...issues-with-scott-arniel-and-derick-brassard/

5:37PM: Arniel’s comments were:

“You can see the class of Derick. The day I got hired he called me the next day. I was gonna reach out to him. We had a great conversation and I told him how proud I was of him and how he played last year with the Rangers. As a coach in Columbus, you are always going to have situations like ice time issues. There is nothing personal. Derick and I still work together. We have both moved on and hopefully for better days ahead.”

“It was all created by the comments from his agent. Derick and I talked about it then and cleared the air then. It had a lot to do with that we had traded for Carter. We had drafted Ryan Johansen, we had Antoine Vermette and Derek McKenzie. We had a lot of centers and we asked Derick to move to the wing. The whole team struggled and it was something we decided as an organization to do and it didn’t work out. At the end of the day I just think you move on.”

First game...

Just realized, this is a very very good team.

Just realized, this is a very very good team.

It is if Kreider and Zuccarello play well.

If not, then it's an average forward corps. And of course, there will always be injuries. But we have NHL ready guys to hold down the fort.

if Boyle was not 6'7 he would be in the minors.....

You mean if he was of average height.

If Boyle was of average height he'd have a different game. Likely be faster. It's like saying Zuccarello would be dominant if he was 6'5". Players develop styles based on what they have, mixed with a mentality and coaching.

There is a strong anti-Boyle contingency on these boards. It's too bad, because he's one of the better 4th line forwards out there. He's in the conversation with guys like Gaustad, older Chris Gratton, and older Handzus.

I thought someone putting Zuccarello on the second line was ridiculous until I saw someone putting him on the first line. Do you all have Napoleon complexes?

when healthy and stepan signs...

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash

I have a couple questions and comments here...

Would you prefer I switch the Brassard and Richards lines? Because they're going to get almost exactly the same amount of even strength playing time. Whatever order you list them in doesn't matter to me. Only the Nash line will see significantly more and the Moore line significantly less.

You don't have an issue with people putting Kreider and Pouliot in the top six?\

Lundsanity basically just made my point for me. Chemistry over whatever you think a "line player" someone is.

AV said he didn't watch 13 footage. I hope the coaching staff is aware of hag-holdy-Nash.
