on a serious note though something is up if berg is at the avs stars game rather than his own team not quite sure what would be involved in a trade between the two teams

Maybe there's more to the CP situation than we know?

Could be Varlamov or the Dallas Duo.

Price might be considered the best goalie in the league, but Varlamov's career regular season SV% is only 0.003 lower, and Varly has a higher career playoff SV%, a better W-L % in the playoffs, and is signed for longer at a lower cap hit. Why would the Avs want to give up anything close to what Montreal would want for Price when they have Varlamov and Pickard?

For fun?

It starts and ends with at the very least Nathan Mackinnon and Semyon Varlamov.

lol yeah, sounds about right...

Because the Avs would then get the honor of having to pay Price $10M+ per year on a long-term deal in less than 2 years!!

Duh!!

Quick...let's trade MacKinnon + to make it happen!!!!

Habs fans are out to lunch asking for MacKinnon. Honestly ask yourselves why any team would make such a stupid trade...

Varlamov can be a top goaltender when he's on his game and it costs us nothing to just play him.

Every goalie in the league can be a top goalie when they are on their game. The problem is how often they are on their game and how bad are they when they aren't.

Well to be fair Varlamov is "on his game" a lot more than Carey Price is "in a game".

Clearly Carey Price is a better goaltender but it would be stupid for the Avs to add any value to a goaltender who gets the job done very well for a marginal upgrade who never plays anyway.

I don't think the Avs would do much of anything.

Top tier goalies cost more than they are worth.

And Duchene will still be contributing to the team when the rest of the core is in their prime. Price would either be gone or be making us pay through the nose.

The Avs wouldn't even come close to touching that. The Avs have Varly and Pickard, they are fine in net. They certainly don't need to give up anything of high value to upgrade to a goalie who's going to get a ridiculous contract in two year and who has injury issues. Goalies aren't remotely worth breaking the bank for.

I just want to say that I'm going to be doing my best Eklund impersonation here. That meaning the chance of it happening is under 1%. But with the talks of Bergevin being at the Avalanche/Stars game last night, Price still not returning to our lineup and seeing what can happen to our team without strong goaltending, and the fact we have history trading our starters to Colorado(Roy/Theodore), what would a hypothetical trade involving Price to the Avalanche take?

You can have a half baked goalie prospect and a 2nd line roster player in return for price .......

The Avs can go win 2 stanley cups .........oh wait, de ja vu.

Idk why exactly Bergevin was at Colorado rather than Ottawa (habs game) but I do know this, Price will not be moved for the next 2 years and likely stays with the Habs for the rest of his career.

What I do think is more likely than Price (everything is tho), is that Pacs requested a trade so he can get away from the Montreal Hockey Hotbed. He isnt that type of player to take things well when things are going terribly. The fact (or the assumption) that Therrien called him the worst captain doesnt help matters. Also, he looks like he's playing dead.

Other than Pacs, theres no one on this team that will get moved and be worthy of skipping a game for. Maybe Plekanec, Emelin??

that was just a one time offer.... for a sign of good will b/w the 2 teams.

does neither team stars or avs has a similar prospect on defense that could clear waivers?

my guess would be a prospect swap for andrighetto, could have grab him for free but would want to free a contract instead!

How else are you going to get Nathan MacKinnon out of town?

In your dreams. But ill humor ya..

Mackinnon
Varlamov
Zadorov

Quite possibly more then that.

Uh..look we know Price is valuable to you guys...but goalies don't have that kind of value around the league.

Avs don't need Price. Name the last 4 goalies to win the Cup. Not one of them is considered to be anywhere near Price's level. The 3 players coming from the Avs give the Avs a better shot of winning the Cup than substituting them for Price does.

It will cost Colorado more than they're willing to part with. Montreal will ask for MacKinnon ++, Colorado will decline considering they're giving up arguably their highest upside forward for a goalie that they're going to have to pay an obscene amount of money to retain 2 years from now.

Maybe Bergevin is scouting someone like Tyson Barrie? With the rumours of him shopping Beaulieu, maybe there's a deal to be made..not quite sure what Avs fans would want in addition to Beaulieu for Barrie, maybe our 2017 1st rounder and someone like Hudon?

The difference between Varly and Price isn't MacKinnon+.

Bad thread, bad idea.
