Value of: Price Of The Brock Going Up

with the gourde/bjorkstrand trade does it mean the price of the Brock has gone up? Or did we just lose the team willing to get the most aggressive
Another factor might be how many teams looking to add still have their 1st to trade and the cap space? Not that those can't be dealt with, but there could be more teams interested compared to interested and also having the pieces.

What an unbelievable joke that it's come to this. It's enough already with this clown GM. I would not trade Nelson if Malkin would fire Lou.

With just about 48 hours until the trade deadline, there’s still not much clarity on the New York Islanders’ plans.

The teams that have interest in Brock Nelson (No. 1 on The Athletic’s trade board) and Kyle Palmieri (No. 14), the two Isles pending unrestricted free agents who are most likely to be dealt before Friday at 3 p.m. ET, were still waiting to hear if general manager and president of hockey operations Lou Lamoriello had made his deadline plans as of Wednesday early afternoon, according to league sources.

Lamoriello was still trying to hammer out a contract extension with Nelson on Wednesday, per the sources.

That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s staying, though. Some of the teams that would love to acquire Nelson for the stretch run and postseason might also be interested in signing him to an extension, which would require pre-trade conversations with Nelson’s camp before agreeing to a deal.

The longer the Islanders go without making their intentions clear, the harder it would be to have those kinds of talks — if Lamoriello would even consider that option. A post-trade extension, like the one the Islanders gave Jean-Gabriel Pageau after acquiring him from the Ottawa Senators at the 2019-20 deadline for three draft picks, could make the return bigger for the Isles.

There’s no shortage of teams waiting in the wings. The Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild and Los Angeles Kings would all make pitches on Nelson, assuming the Islanders don’t re-sign him for themselves. The Tampa Bay Lightning were on that list, as well, but are also in talks for forwards Oliver Bjorkstrand and Yanni Gourde from the Seattle Kraken, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Wednesday.

Some of those teams would be interested in Palmieri, too, though Nelson is the biggest fish for a team to land this deadline.

Teams are going to pivot and Lou is gonna lose leverage. Should be done today or tomorrow. Or at least let teams know they’re available and start the bidding.

Keeping teams in the dark is not the way to go. They will go elsewhere

Not trading a 33 year old Brock Nelson with the insane prices being paid for talent right now would be very dumb.

But knowing Lamoreillo he's probably going to give him an 6-8 year retirement contract.

He'll do anything to avoid having to face the reality that he's failed as Isles GM and the team desperately needs a rebuild/re-tool.

I don't know, Girth Snow did a great job holding onto Vanek until the end of the trade deadline in order to maximize the return.

Haven’t even seen an interview or heard from him since Lou made him shave and then fired him lol

He got one of those ridiculous severance packages from Wang...like a Bobby Bonilla special.

I mean, good for him, right? I got a severance package once that lasted me 18 months...I can't imagine having one that lasts a decade.
