He never has. But if there was ever a year, it’s the one where your best player is injured and you have 2 of the most valuable players in a sellers market.

You would think so, but this is Lou we are talking about. He doesn't want to sell. If he did move a guy like Nelson I could see Lou ask where Nelson wants to go among the teams interested and send him there even if it isn't the tip top offer. With the possible exception of of the Rangers. At least it will be over in a couple of days one way or the other.

He's going to wait until both teams announce trades for completely different players and then give a press conference..."We decided it was in the best interest of the Islanders to keep Brock in the fold for our playoff push...the offers were simply not there".

I prefer the Jets picks prospects. Leafs first rounder would likely be higher but Jets have deep prospect pool and would likely be more willing to part with one. Brock also has family and grew up a few hours from Winnipeg so it would be good for him.

Obviously best package possible but all things being equal I’d like him to go to the Jets

Plus both were against Tom Brady with one ruining the perfect season. I still regret not buying that hat (Patriots 19-0 perfect season) in Marshall’s when I found it.

With just about 48 hours until the trade deadline, there’s still not much clarity on the New York Islanders’ plans.

The teams that have interest in Brock Nelson (No. 1 on The Athletic’s trade board) and Kyle Palmieri (No. 14), the two Isles pending unrestricted free agents who are most likely to be dealt before Friday at 3 p.m. ET, were still waiting to hear if general manager and president of hockey operations Lou Lamoriello had made his deadline plans as of Wednesday early afternoon, according to league sources.


Lamoriello was still trying to hammer out a contract extension with Nelson on Wednesday, per the sources.

That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s staying, though. Some of the teams that would love to acquire Nelson for the stretch run and postseason might also be interested in signing him to an extension, which would require pre-trade conversations with Nelson’s camp before agreeing to a deal.

The longer the Islanders go without making their intentions clear, the harder it would be to have those kinds of talks — if Lamoriello would even consider that option. A post-trade extension, like the one the Islanders gave Jean-Gabriel Pageau after acquiring him from the Ottawa Senators at the 2019-20 deadline for three draft picks, could make the return bigger for the Isles.

There’s no shortage of teams waiting in the wings. The Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild and Los Angeles Kings would all make pitches on Nelson, assuming the Islanders don’t re-sign him for themselves. The Tampa Bay Lightning were on that list, as well, but are also in talks for forwards Oliver Bjorkstrand and Yanni Gourde from the Seattle Kraken, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Wednesday.

Some of those teams would be interested in Palmieri, too, though Nelson is the biggest fish for a team to land this deadline.

Would have been somewhat amusing and satisfying if the writer would have said “biggest fish stick” as a shout out to the teams logo history.

With Miller, Evans, and Granlund already off the board Brock Nelson is far and away the best C available (maybe) at the deadline. With reports of multiple teams with a first on the table for Scott Laughton, what do we now think Nelson’s value is at the deadline?
