LeBrun: Price for Lehkonen is at least a 1st round pick, lots of teams interested

This story sounds familiar. Did anyone give them a 1st for Chiarot yet?
Chiarot is a different story... He's a 30 y old UFA. They WILL trade him.

They certainly can wait for an offer they like for Lehkonen... I don't see them getting less than a 2nd rounder for him as a UFA next year at the deadline anyways, why settle for that now?

I wouldn't trade Lehkonen.
He's starting to play really good and it's doubtful we can get something better than him.
Maybe some team in playoff run plagued by injuries and in desperate need would overpay, but we would be really lucky if that happens.

Of the 2,600 hundred players drafted just 494 or 19% played in at least 200 contests. 63% of first round picks played but less than 25% of second round picks survived and only 12% of third rounder selections.

Alright, like who ?

Giroux ? Despite what people say, there isn't a lot out that's "a lot higher" than Lehkonen this deadline.
Giroux decides where he wants to go with his NMC, that will certainly impact the price.

Rakell, Copp, Hagel... Maybe Domi?

I think Lehkonen is certainly one of the best forward available, especially given his age and contract status.

if he has such value of giving up a 1st for coukd mean he gets an arb award of $5M+ that the new team can’t afford. Thry thrn do t QO him.

He's not getting a $5M+ arbitration award. Even if he did, the team could just walk away from it (anything over $4,538,958) so the QO is not really that risky.

Jeff Gorton got himself in trouble at times in NY asking for too much. Wanted a 1st rounder for Georgiev. Also was asking for a 1st for Zuccarello. Traded for 2 picks that could have become 1sts, but did not. He's doing it with Chiarot as well.

He's really worth a 2nd and a prospect, maybe the Buchnevich package.

I don’t think he'd get a better offer than Kravtsov and a 2nd.

LeBrun is legit getting his info from Gorton. Of course he wants a 1. It's a waiting game. Get a 1 for Lehkonen or Chiarot, move the other for less than that. See if someone blinks.

Even for a 1st i keep him, it'll be a late first, i'd rather sign him long term for cheap. Lehkonen himself a 2nd rounder, he's still very young and he's one of the best defensive wingers in the league.

1st + solid prospect is a different story tho. He's the type of player you add to your core at a team friendly deal for 5-6 years, that's way too valuable. He's also a leader, great work ethic/team player.

I'd rather trade Anderson tbh.

Damn the price of everyone is a 1st round pick these days, I don't see this one happening. I get it from Montreals perspective though. Ask for a 1st, or just re-sign him. But like another poster said, with Giroux, Hertl, MAF, Lindholm, Manson, Giordano, Chiraot, Hagel, Chychrun, etc all demanding 1st rounds picks, there aren't enough to go around. So I'm guessing lots of guys end up staying put.

I highly, highly doubt anyone is giving us a 1st for him. But anything less than that and I'd rather keep him anyways. He's reasonably young and plays a hard-working game.
