Him playing on the left side of the PP, has nothing to do with him playing RW. I really don't understand what you're trying to say.

And if you don't want to see ppl talking about the pre-season, this might not be the thread for you.

Ugh nobody's saying that, but when I hear Iginla's "Hit the ground running" because of a pre-season game playing against scrubs because he was "used properly", my advise is to temper expectations. How that turned into me basically saying to shut down the internet is beyond me, but carry on I suppose.

Red Wings play in the Atlantic, mainly because Ilitch whined and pouted for the past decade.

Actually, he took a bullet for the league by standing aside for Toronto to move east in the last realignment. His quite reasonable condition was that Detroit be considered for the same in any future realignment.

Toronto is almost 300 miles East of Detroit. That Toronto would go to the Eastern Conference instead of Detroit is called "geography" not "Ken Holland standing aside."

Thought Olli Maatta was very good tonight, in terms of bright spots on your team. Was really impressed with him, an example of a guy that really shouldn't need to go back to junior, he would be a nice first call up and probably would be better served going to the AHL or NHL. London is going to be stacked though at least in terms of him being sent back there and host the Memorial Cup.

I always laughed at that logic.

Detroit is the 16th furthest east team in a 30 team league...I would say tough ****, but the league stupidly gave in.

He's young which means to Bylsma he hasn't rode the buses and he's a Finn from Europe, so with two strikes against him like that Bylsma would never let beat out a coach's pet like Deryk Engelland no matter how well he plays.;)

Maybe Bylsma could bench Glass, giving us all hope, so we can have 7 defensemen. With Despres and Maatta each getting 6.5 minutes a night!

I dunno, it just makes sense for all the EST teams to share a conference. In fact, conferences should be strictly divided by time zone. The Coyotes would be alone because Arizona doesn't do daylight savings.

In which case, they could have used that as the reason for axing the Coyotes.

"Sirs, we have three options: 1. Move the Coyotes franchise somewhere else. 2. Force Arizona to pass a bill allowing for daylight savings time. 3. Create the Coyotes Conference, taking 6 successful franchises (including at least 3 Canadian teams), and moving them to Arizona. Watch as the Canadian fans implode in upon themselves."

Of course you would. Most teams don't want Detroit in the East.

Because it makes the conferences unbalanced. It's simple math 30/2=15. 8/16 teams make the playoffs in the East and 8/14 do in the West...how is that fair?

Thankfully that isn't going to impact us, I expect expansion to 'fix' this issue before the Penguins drop to the point of being a bubble team, but it still will negatively affect a handful of teams.

I would love to see the Red Wings finish with the 9th most points in the East, but enough to make the playoffs in the Central Division.

Can we please stop jinxing Maatta? If you all continue to praise him, he will be inevitably waived in a couple of seasons.
