Don’t think any of Bahl, Okhotiuk, or Walsh really did anything to push for that roster spot. Unless they show better they might be leaving the door open for someone else (Hickey, Nemec?). I actually really like Vilen too. Smooth skater, good, mover and looks solid defensively.
I think walsh will be an NHL player at some point.. his game is coming along slowly.. he still gets beat too often to make the team this season.. and we have better options on the right side right now

I think some of what Ruff said may have already been said to Walsh. My guess is Walsh is trying too hard and making mistakes as a result. Ultimately he can only control what he can control and pushing too hard won't help him if that's what's going on.

I think it's funny Slaf is being judged after one preseason game but whatever. What I want to know is how Shane Wright has looked so far and I don't want to leave this board to find out.
Slafkovsky is monstrously huge, it’s not surprising at all if he can’t keep up with the speed of today’s game at 18.

Some of his best case comparisons like Rantanan and Draisaitl weren’t in the NHL for good until their age 20 season and he’s heavier than both of them. He‘s somewhat uncharted territory with his size.

It’s going to take him time to get the core strength to move that body mass around with some speed, there’s a reason bigger guys take longer. Yes, he was the 1OA, but Montreal isn’t racing to compete so keeping in the AHL for a year should be very doable. If it takes longer it takes longer.

The one good thing about not getting Slafkovsky is that some people had crazy expectations about him hitting the ground running.

Wright didn’t play in the Kraken’s first game, I haven’t heard much about him. I assume teams could have easily over thought this but it’s early.

There’s enough pressure on these kids as is, Wright seemed to wear under it before the draft. Montreal likely did him a favor and Slaf has an advantage if he can’t read the local media.

I was looking for a good, fun FICTIONAL, TOTALLY NOT REAL leg break gif for this and the first thing that pops up is the footage of the college gymnastic very visibly BREAKING BOTH HER LEGS in gif form.

It’s made me nauseous in 2019 internet and it still makes me nauseous, stop that. Bad internet, bad.

full tilt is how you defend your unicorn against every type of criticism. ;)
That's how I roll, baybee!

Giving everything on every shift. Skating full speed, absorbing contact, more shake and bake and crab moves.

Don't interpret this like a bad thing. I would not expect or want a player like Bratt or Hischier or Hughes to be going all out in a preseason game. That would be dumb. The point I'm making is that, even just warming up he was the best player out there against a lot of kids for Montreal trying to make that team.
okay fair enough.

But if this was him "not giving everything on every shift", get ready for one hell of a season by our Unicorn.
