Kopitar is old and its just preseason, he is probably sore and tired after getting back on the horse after resting a lot over the summer.

I hope to see continued improvements in Clarke's defensive game.

I like Fagemo and would be happy to see him not be claimed but I am not betting on it.

He didn't earn it but if he ever does improve a bit more the upside potential is huge.

Er could have beat the Panthers but came up a few plays short.

It's nice to see some renewed but cautious optimism.

All I really took from that game is that the Panthers PK is really good. Hard fought game with the special teams making the difference. Overall, I’m more confident and happy with the team after the preseason than I was before it.
Agreed. It always looked more balanced on paper but until they stepped onto the ice it was impossible to know. Also, Hillers impact with it now being his team was a complete unknown.

Obviously it’s ‘just’ preseason but it definitely looks promising, in that they will probably be more fun to watch at the very least. The players seem much more upbeat also, than it appeared (to me at least) than at any time under TMac. There definitely seems to be a different vibe/tone, whatever it is.

It felt like a good preseason overall. I like that they're not playing 1-3-1. It's an immediate improvement.
It's a more aggressive approach with more aggressive players added- with protection to allow younger players to swagger themselves up a level. The young players made it, the change in tone has started from a decade of "hang on and we will see what happens" on and off ice to a "lets see what we have" approach. Byfield is back up the middle where we need him, Turcotte gets to prove himself, Thomas looks like a clutch toolsy guy you win with. Clarke AND Spence inked in, and a 2nd year kid on the first line.

This was what was supposed to happen over the past two years, but with Vilardi and Faber, hopefully with Kaliyev hitting. Those managerial mistakes probably put a rough limit on the ceiling of this group, but it's FINALLY a step in the right direction.

Its not your fault. It's a self protection mechanism.
Your mind blocked this game to avoid mental scarring when Buffalo completely wrecks us yet again
Somehow we’ll be the team that’s resting in Buffalo while they’re flying and dealing with a time change so… 8-1 Kings?

Do you have recommendations on that tuner or something else and antenna?
The 'Gesobyte Amplified HD Digital TV Antenna' is what I use on all my TVs. It's not the cheapest indoor HDTV antenna around, but it comes with an extra-long coax cable (handy for placement purposes) and a switchable amplifier, which many of the bargain-basement HDTV antennas don't. Most importantly, it pulls in basically every "Greater LA" station that we could possibly receive (and even a few Santa Barbara/San Diego ones).

A slight majority of the 55"+ 4K TVs sold in the US since 2022 have the NextGen (ATSC 3.0) tuner built-in (I believe the most notable exception is LG, which recently discontinued it), but for any TV that doesn't, try this (there are a few other external NextGen tuners, but this is supposedly the best): ZapperBox M1

What plays do you expect a top 8 draft pick to make?
Well knock kneed Clarke should be the heir apparent to Doughty...no way in hell he achieves that but I'd love to be wrong...and Clarke needs to show a committment to strengthing his lower body(legs)!!!

14 goals a few years ago, and a complete non-factor in recent times.

The lower leagues are littered with goal scorers who just couldn’t quite put it together in the show. Fagemo and Arty are both screaming towards mediocrity, and I haven’t seen anything to indicate otherwise.
Kaliyev was given 4th line minutes right? What you do expect and plus being converted to LWing from natural RWing is no easy task even for vets...

Bingo. I just keep coming back to the fact that I think this team's ceiling is Cup contender with those two in the fold plus two additional 1st round selections made. The team made the playoffs after only adding Danault pre-Fiala trade. We would've still been competitive while having such an incredible young core. Now we need Byfield to become a top 5-10 player and Clarke to become a no-doubt #1D to reach that ceiling IMO.

Think man...Kaliyev scored 14 goals a few years ago as a part timer...as for Fagemo the Kings rushed him and have probably ruined him but I guess hindsight is 20-20...they should have left him in Sweden for 2 more seasons to let him dominate and percolate before bringing him over to the Shit-Show that was Blake's idea of a Developmental model

You mean the way he dominates in the AHL now? Nothing says he'd have dominated in the SEL or others leagues, his high goal total was 14 goals there as an 18 year old. Not sure why they drafted him in the first place, other BPA on their list. The entire top 4 picks in the 2019 draft turned out to be a busts [ I still have hope for Turcotte].

Didn’t Kuemper have a medical issue that prevented him from seeing things a couple years ago?
When he won the Cup with the Avs he only had a record of 10-4, as Francouz went 6-0 while Kuemper sustained and recovered from an eye injury(I think a players stick blade got through his cat eye on his mask). Kuemper played the 1st 2 games of the playoffs, missed the next 2 games(Avs swept the Preds 4-0). Kuemper then played all 6 games of the 2nd round against the Blues. He would miss all of the 3rd round of a 4 game sweep of the Oilers. He then came back for all 6 games of the Cup Final. The eye injury happened in the 1st round. He came back, but the side effects kept him out of the 3rd round.

What?

The SEL is the top league in Swedish hockey. He was playing against men. The highest scorer in the league the year he was drafted had 50 points, because it has fewer games (52). Fagemo put up 25 as an 18 year-old, which was good for 65th in the league.

Regarding dominating the league, Elias Petterson wasn't even playing in the SHL in his draft year. He blew up in his D+1, but his 56 points put him in the superstar status - that's how low-scoring the league is.

Fagemo hasn't panned out, and I wasn't huge on the Kings picking a player in his D+1, but to act like he had no business being drafted, he never would have dominated the league, or that there were clearly much better picks is some serious revisionism.

The biggest problem is he thought he'd make it playing Ovechkin's role without Ovechkin's shot. And other scoring fundamentals weren't developed more for the NHL.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

I do wonder how many goals and assists Fagemo would have if the Kings just had him stationed at the top of the circle for the entire power play like Ovechkin. He could play like 5 minutes a night for all I care.

I guess there's no room for one-tool specialists in the NHL.
