You would think for having so many D issues, The results would match that.

But they didnt.

The Oilers were a top 10 defensive team in the NHL last year.

Because our 2nd and 3rd D pairs were so amazing? We have high end talent that masks issues down our lineup. Issues that we could all see our coach struggle badly with. Desharnais and Ceci bouncing back and forth all season trying to figure out how to make a pair work. Having to play Kulak and Broberg with Nurse to try to stop that D pair from bleeding chances and costed goals was plain to see. And We are very lucky Nurse got a load of luck for a week or so in the finals finally after almost setting the minus record.

Only as strong as your weakest links, and we played with fire all last playoffs with a weak bottom 4 group of D. It almost got us against the Canucks, Dallas well and thankfully Kulak stepped up for a while. Thinking we can just coast again this year because our top end talent pad stats for the rest of the group is a big gamble.
