Meh, had Kesler/Cogs/Heatly/Silferberg/Maroon/Allen/Stoner/Beauch/Lindholm who all played fulltime in the NHL last year. Plus DSP/Vatenan/Etem and maybe Rakell as part-timers from last year.
Guys in bold are barely NHL players.

Opinions on Nolan in this game?
He had that goal, but that was handed to him. O'Donnel mentioned him in a short list of solid players...
Am I the only one who though he looked like he was "only playing a preseason game" out there?
It's begun.
And LOL @ Heatley. What a plug.
I suspect maybe you have a slight bias against Nolan if you're thinking that.

Soon.

That's some bad photoshopping.

I need to go to sleep so I'll give out a few comments.
Schultz looked awful! I pray he gets claimed. He look like his he was in quick sand most of the night.
Picking up McNabb looks like mistake. He was burned many times. Not impressed... I don't see how he makes the team.
Nick Ebert was by far the best kid out there.
Clifford looked excellent and Nolan and King looked OKAY but not as good as Clifford.
Marty Jones made some fantastic saves.
Never heard of Raine before tonight but he was much better than McNabb and Schultz
Forbort wasn't any good either
Weal can stick handle and make plays.
Toffoli and Pearson were both exceptional

But he's a ****ing all-star!
He's saving his skillz for the regular season.
Eh, not like Anaheim's lineup was very experienced either.

I was focused on McNabb, Forbort and Andreoff the 1.5 periods I watched.
McNabb -
slow reads, slow feet and as a result he was chasing more than dictating what was going to happen in front of him. His skating last night looked very choppy at times and with very little power.
I didn't see any big hits by him, hell even any good body contact for which he is known for. IMO, he played timid last night and was afraid of making a mistake.
He was playing very tight to the forward he was covering almost the entire time I watched. He was typically shoulder to shoulder on his coverage.
The end result was that he didn't make any glaring mistakes, but he also wasn't controlling pace and position the way I would think the staff wants him to.
Forbort -
much more fluid and agile skater than McNabb. he won't win any races or dance contests, but for a big man he has good footwork that allows him to get his big frame in position. compare him to Schultz and you will see what I mean.
I've watched many UND games over the years. The last two seasons, especially his last one he wasn't playing with that much separation. He seems to have gone back to playing guys with a bit more separation, which I think he does as he gets comfortable with different game speeds. Last night he was facing a line-up that was ~50% NHL vets (don't care if they are plugs or not, they are NHL vets) or greater. Regardless of ANH's big guns not playing that is a different tempo and pace than the WCHA and AHL.
His huge frame and reach allow him to play off guys and still reach them. As time goes by and he will tighten his defense separation. The tighter he gets the better he will be, but this seems to always be a work in progress with him.
Surveyed the ice well and made good reads and reactions with his D partner. Played a good low post game from dot to dot and into the corners. He never pushed his coverage, which meant there were no holes for ANH to take advantage of.
Andreoff -
I truly didn't notice him much out there. I though Weal at C had a better game. Andy's one time on camera was the blown coverage on ANH's first goal, when he didn't pick up his guy on the cycle.
I think the best forwards for LA were Clifford, Van der Gulik, Cracknell, Weal and Nolan. They were always around the puck and making something out of nothing. VDG was always doing something, the guy is a career AHL'er but he is making the most out of his opportunity. He should land in MAN.
TTT had the sweet pass for the assist, but was mainly invisible much of the game. I mention him because you could see the vast difference between him and the other players (both squads). When he stepped on the ice he could instantly take over on the ice.
Pearson on the other hand was quiet all night. I was hoping to see more of him and lead the way. I think that is the difference between Tanner and TTT. Tyler has the additional one-year of NHL experience. Frankly I thought Tanner looked lost out there without having Carter to play off of.
Jones looked good in goal. In games like this where there are a lot of defensive breakdowns. As a result with keepers you get to see how sound they are positionally. They get more rubber shot at them from weird angles, due to lapses of inexperienced players. Jones played strong and structured in net. Remained calm and as a result calmed the LA defensive zone down.
