I was a huge fan and wanted the Pens to sign him. If I'm recalling correctly, injuries (head ones) devastated him.

He was rushed into the NHL. That's the core problem. He needed a season or two in the AHL to learn to defend.
I would say he's the worst at defending of any D in the league with a 6+ mil AAV contract.
This is beyond just a case like Karlsson or Burns where they're inadequate defensively. He makes huge errors. It's shocking.
I wish him the best, but if he does become a Norris candidate down the road, it will be when he's either much older or the voters are strictly going off points, IMO.

If/when ERod looks poor on a top line...I'd also hope Sully gives Big Z a shot to compete for the spot. No way should ERod feel comfortable that his shifts are guaranteed in our top 6.

Nah not at all. He's that bad at it. I would use the entire Wilkes D-corps over him if I was protecting a lead in the last minute.
He's blessed with great offensive ability, but it's a double edged-sword.

I really like Poulin’s game. He’s just a step behind or ahead of a lot of pucks and I think playing with actual NHL talent eventually will help that a ton.
Legare looks great too. Super happy with these two. Big Puusy looks like what we expect boom or bust.

Maybe so, but he's still only 21. Lids didn't win his first Norris until he was what 30? It's certainly possible he can round out his game. Perhaps Owen Power see's it your way and doesn't want to rush himself and is the first 1st overall to not play in his draft year in a long ass time

Dude this lineup is like ECHL caliber with some AHL guys and a couple NHLers.
If we had any freewheeling, skilled guys I'm sure they'd be showcasing their talent. But we got a buncha C-tier prospects that we've all hung our hopes on and a buncha dudes who should be playing beer league hockey.

I Certainly think that's a bit absurd.
His defensive metrics aren't even among the absolute worst in the NHL.

Seriously, not much of note. The top line of Simon-Chaput-Puustinen was the best line with Simon and Chap doing most of the work. Zoho made some decent plays. Bellerive was noticeable when he was antagonizing. The 6 defensemen were uninspiring yet inoffensive. And CDS played quite well while Domingue certainly wasn't bad.
