I think it's interesting that JAD, who has similar point totals to Kupari in his NHL career (more goals though), would be thought of as an offensive catalyst over Appleton. The numbers are in Apples favour in that regard. I think organizationally you are probably satisfied with that line winning matchups but there are a number of players who could slot into a more offensive looking 4th line, especially Lambert over Kupari, to change the look of the team to a more balanced attack. Nino is the one player I wonder if he doesn't get moved around a bit, because he looks like he could have a nice season after a strong preseason.
We are clearly not talking about like things:). My perspective is that we should be looking to adjust Lowry`s line by finding him wingers that will fit directly into the current defensive line play-style, while simultaneously bringing more offensive scoring consistency (more balance) to the line. I believe one has to look at specific player attributes, strengths and weakness`s, to begin such a search - certainly not just career point totals. I suggested, based upon an admittedly very brief opportunity, that JAD seemed to make the line function better, with some chemistry with Lowry, and speculated that
the coach`s may have taken note.

There is not a great deal of difference between Appleton and JAD in terms of attributes and both seem capable of complementing Lowry`s preferred play in the offensive zone. Seems to me that JAD shows better instincts than Appleton when it comes to play without the puck and freeing himself from checkers.

I think the surprise was how well JAD played with and complemented Lowry/Neidereitter in his chances there. I wonder if they might want to try him as an upgrade to Appleton in an effort to increase the line `s offensive punch?
Please go and compare JAD and Apples offensive stats at both the AHL and NHL levels and tell my why you'd think he'd be an offensive upgrade

As discussed immediately above, I do not think that comparison of scoring stats in the AHL or the NHL to date, with entirely different linemates and particularly different centers, helps in any way with selecting a RW for Lowry`s line. The challenge is to find a RW that plays well WITH Lowry, with an emphasis on creating offence by dump in/puck pursuit and winning puck battles along the boards to create turnovers/ and cycling down low when they have possession of the puck. In my judgment, JAD appeared to play this overall game better than Appleton in pre-season. Feel free to disagree.

It`s all mute in any event since JAD has been put on waivers for now.

Appleton put up 0.44 points per game last season playing with Lowry vs other teams best lines night in and night out

That, plus the better scoring results at all levels of pro hockey, means much more than a couple of preseason games vs scrubs

There is no reason in the world to suggest that JAD would be better than Apples on Lowry's line and no good reason in the world to try it

Honestly, this is exactly the scenario that most teams would slot a guy like Salo in. The situation is super ripe for that to happen and you need to give him a chance. This team cannot just continue to wait for perfection, for young players to step in.
I totally agree with this post. Right now the Jets are going into this season with pretty much the exact same lineup as last season, and I expect somewhat the same results. Although I'm not really sold on Arneil as Coach, and I hope he proves me wrong, I expect the Jets to end up with about 100 - 104 points this upcoming season, make the playoffs, and get knocked out quite easily in the 1st round. If you keep the same players, it's very likely the results will be the same.

What we need to do, is get rid of guys like Iafallo, and Kupari, and slot in some of our young talent like Lambert, Chibrikov and Salomonnson. They can learn at the top level while they are developing. This will also excite the fan base, and very likely improve the Jets results this upcoming season. This is what I'd like to see.
