Hard to read much in a game against that level of competition. Edmonton brought an awful roster. We won and we should have won big.

Vilardi shows some excellent tools. Really going to like what he brings. Fit in well with Kyle and Mark.

Salomonsson was really good. Kid has all the tools to play top pairing minutes some day. I think he's going to be an excellent player.

Thought Stanley was pretty poor until the third where he settled. Still at the back of the bus for me in terms of the LD competeting for spots.

Nice to have a player that can stir the drink on the fourth line in Namestnikov. Barron was fine and Kupri was just ok.

Kid line was buried 5 on 5. Lucius needs lots of games. The other two imo have no real NHL future.

Gus was mediocre. Still way too slow a skater.

No one is really taking that last depth forward spot as of yet.

The awesome thing about Salomonsson is that he’s just barely 19. Lots of room to grow.

Just finished watching.
My hot take: Vilardi will outscore Dubois and his big fat contract this year. He’s so much stronger than I expected. And he works hard. A perfect fit.

I thought Barton and Capo both had fantastic games. Not just because they scored. Both were very noticeable all game.
I thought Capo had a bad 2nd but looked pretty good in the 1st and even better in the 3rd. Barron is better than a 4th line player. It's weird some of the players they chose to play over him on the powerplay last year.

I was pretty heavily on the Barron train last year. I’m glad to see he’s picked up right where he left off. He does so many little things right, and many of those things probably go largely unnoticed.
He’s fast, he’s hard on the puck along the boards and he’s not afraid to go to the net.
I think he’s also got quite a bit more scoring in him than we’ve seen so far. A little bit of bad luck last year.

I'll get lit up but I'd like to see Barron-Perfetti-Kupari as our fourth line getting 10 mins a game

Not surprised you guys are liking Vilardi, I take it he's fitting in well so far?
The only question with him is staying healthy... if he does I think it's very reasonable to expect 30 goals and 30 assists. Which of course is what Dubois has been averaging... so that'll be interesting to track.

Also strength was never an issue for Vilardi, he's always had that. His knocks (outside of health) were his skating and defensive responsibility. I would say he was at least adequate in both those categories last season. He certainly wasn't hurting the team.

I really liked the play of Barron in this game, as he seemed always in the play, and around the net. If he continues to develop and get better, we could have a great player in him. Villardi looks good, and so does Samberg, Capo, and Salomonson. We could have a very good blue line in the very near future, and Chisholm is also no slouch as well.

I'll get even more lit up, i think we should resign Scheifele . Obviously there is a limit to how much i would pay him but we need a good offensive center while the young'ins grow into their games.

How did Vilardi and Kupari look? I’m more excited for the Jets this year than the Kings. Might get me a Vilardi jersey.
I thought they both looked pretty good especially for their first pre-season games of the year. Valardi, Scheifele and Connor could be pretty deadly on the PP this year. Plus Valardi gives me a chance to play this tune.

What I noticed about Vilardi was his poise with the puck and how he sees the ice. I think he's gonna fit nicely with a couple if snipers like Connor and Schief

Kupari looked good, not sure what we have in him yet though. If his linemates stay the same, it could be one of the stronger 4th lines in the league

Just got home, that was a good game to start things off this year. They've really modded the old Bud lounge at the north end, much better.

Lucius is super fast... Barron played great. Vilardi is going to be a good one, and I really liked Salomonsson.

Lots of mods in the building. Bud Lounge? I'm always on the outside looking in, but it did look interesting. Was a bit surprised that they took out a couple of boxes for it though. Building clearly isn't finished but I was quite pleasantly surprised to see a couple of coolers with tall boy cans of local product - TCB, Kilter and LBJ. Don't know the pricing on them though as we didn't buy any.

Game was hard to judge given the roster the Oilers (?) brought. I thought our D looked solid for the most part. Samberg I have high hopes of, especially if he lets out a bit more of a mean streak. He's a big man. Salmonsson looked fine and at home, but quality of competition was pretty low.

Was interested in watching Lucius play. He clearly needs more games and he looked to be fighting his own stick at times - going to write that off to rust but I don't see him on the big club this year. My buddy and I both noted he has the same build as KFC (plus the flow). Definitely skates well though.

I bought a couple of stellas @ $14 per can. Add taxes and a fat gratuity and thats a set of brake pads for the Jeep/ a used compendium of Shakespeare sonnets/ 6 cans of salted bait at the Wanipigow general store.

Two guys that stood out this game was Scheifele and Pionk. Considering they are veteran guys playing in preseason they both really seemed to care and were hustling. Especially considering Scheifele's lack of caring recently I think that is a really good sign. Tho they were playing an AHL quality team haha

Had to finish the game on catchup but the Jets took over as they should have, given the talent disparity.

Youse guys have pretty much covered it -- I did think Lucious looked more confident and quicker this game, and his ability to distribute quickly and clinically was much more pronounced -- his playstyle really is close to KFC, minus the high end speed. Definitely needs games but easier to see now what he might bring.

Mo-Mo pairing as advertised -- great skating, great instincts, JMo easing off a bit at times, understandably. Salmo has a good first pass and can skate his way into good positions and out of trouble, and his shot looks legit. This may be our best RHD prospect since... Trouba?

Liked Vilardi's game -- actually pretty Dubois-esque, minus the raging bull moments but makes plenty of smart, high-probability plays and can control the puck in tight in a way that 55 is going to love. Those 3 can cycle the puck for days waiting for the goal option.

Kupari looks fast and skilled enough, and in Barron he's got a winger who can burn and protect the puck and, as he showed again, pull off those power moves and absolutely rip it when he's in space. Gus played a very Gus-like game, giving nothing away and creating some nice opportunities. Names is our new Stats without the sneaky scoring, which is just fine given the available talent.

Both Jets A and Jets A2 teams looked decently convincing, and either might have beaten the 2020-22 Jets. Put them together, and we're likely looking at the most complete lineup since Yon Glory Days.

Should be a fun, calm season -- plenty of storylines, minimal drama.

Go Jerts.

Yeah I thought Lucius was moving his feet way more then in the rookie tournament. His line still didn't accomplish anything 5 on 5 and got caved in in terms of shot metrics.

He clearly looks comfortable and dangerous on a pp but he needs to get to a point where he's a difference maker 5 on 5. He'll get plenty of AHL time to do so.

Namestnikov. He's been pushing him for 2C for a long time now despite a decade worth of evicldence that shows he's not an everyday top 6 caliber of player.
With decent wingers this could work.
Would be nice if they can upgrade Appleton. I have a feeling he will get way more ice than he should get and Namestnikov will be the guy that pays the price for it.
