Seems completely crazy but I would not 100% rule out Felix seeing NHL time this year, especially if we have some bottom 6 injuries

Pretty sure he’s just going to go back to Leksands after camp. Keeping him in NA and loaning him to another ahl affiliate who wouldn’t give a shit about his development doesn’t sound like a good idea.

Agreed. Maybe he is back as a Black Ace for the playoffs, but he will spend season 1 in Europe.

Not the year to push him into the AHL, and frankly neither were recent years with Chicago.

What is encouraging is that Canes could be on a long Bruin-ish competitive run with Nishikin, Morrow, Nadeau and FUS the next wave.

Couple that with the youth of Svetch & Jarvis along with Aho/Necas in their prime and that's a good squad. We also have plenty of 3rd and 4th line material in the wings too.

Red Wings level of success of 25 straight years of playoffs and multiple cups or gtfo.

If Nadeau, Morrow and FUS hit, we’ll be battling NJ for metro and likely eastern conference supremacy for a long time.

Don't forget Ponomaryov, who was expected to be the standout rookie during camp, who is out with injury. We're starting to look like we might have somehow cobbled together a surprisingly good set of rookie reinforcements ready to step up over the next couple years, which really couldn't come at a better time when you look at our contract situation.

Also I think there is a non-zero chance that one of our Russian forward prospects winds up like a Panarin or Kaprizov in like 4-5 years. With the amount of darts we've thrown we have a better chance at getting a steal from Russia than any other team and there will be a few forward steals from Russia in the next 5-10 years, that's a given. If that does happen man it would go such a long way in extending our window and keeping our cap structure solid

I see a lot of talk about Felix, but the guy that really impressed me last night was Fensore. His speed was crazy for a defenseman, and he seemed to know exactly when to jump in and when to stay back.

Too bad we have way too many defensemen, because he could be a hidden gem.
Fensmore seems like a guy we sign cheap on a next deal and we keep solely as a 7th defender PP specialist. Let him run the 1st PP with Morrow (if he pans out) then have 2 defensively responsible RHDs as well

See this just makes me more frustrated we have Coghlan signed to a 1-way deal this year.

it's a bit easier for defensemen to stand out a bit as they are on the ice more and they tend to carry the puck more, but I agree with you that he was impressive. Fast, good passer, made good decisions. etc.

Fensore is so far down the depth chart right now that Coghlan being on a one way should have no impact on whether he gets to see any regular season action this year.

I’m honestly surprised he signed with us given that depth. I thought he might try to wait us out and sign with a team where he could have more opportunity.

"Fensore"

I worry about his size though....

Coghlan's only signed for $850k. If he is sent down it has zero impact on the cap; only factor is that it costs Dundon more $$. If he's kept up, it's as a #8 defenseman because he beat out Jones for a bench spot.

Fensore wasn't going to beat out any of the top 6-7 this season, and he's better off playing somewhere than sitting in the press box here. I'd rather have Chatfield, Jones, and/or Coghlan sitting in the press box than someone who could develop with ice time.

Fensmore is no threat to Coghlan yet, which is the point being made I think. We have the ability to be a bit old school Detroit-ish with our prospects in term of letting them over ripen a bit so that they’re really ready for NHL moments when we call them up. Fensmore could be that tweener depth guy for a few years, and become maybe a Krug type down the road. He’s no threat to be that right now.

This is why we need our own team though, so guys like this can grow inside our system more directly. That situation seems like it’ll be rectified sooner than later, and it really needs to be imo.

Side note, Suzuki seems to have put himself back on the radar with his play so far. Which is great, I think he should get some NHL minutes this year with Rees and Pono. Suzuki just has a more mature feel to him than I was expecting - more confident.
