Dunno. You could have elevated someone else needing a rise even if it was of a secondary title. CM could have cost Drew the MitB match. This seems like short-term thinking. Obviously Knight is going after the US title. Gable is going to be dealing with the Wyatts and Jay is probably getting back together with his brother. Maybe they could have done something cool where the USO's cash in - something never done before. Or have Melo win and give him some credibility even if it's all for naught.

Just spit-balling, but MitB is probably on top of the 2nd tier PLEs and it just seemed unnecessary.

It's about telling long term stories, not giving someone a pat on the back that shouldn't be world champ yet.

Neither Gunther (who is totally beating Priest) or Cody should be getting cashed in by anyone in that match right now

Noon? This was at the same time they've been for a few years already. Only the one'd held outside the US have started earlier.
That's what he's saying.

This is their first NA PLE since WrestleMania.

Backlash, KOTR, and Clash were in Lyon, Saudi Arabia, and Glasgow respectively.

That's fine. They've made it clear it doesn't have to be a world title. Hell, maybe elevate NXT since it's somewhat floundering (I'm not sold on Ethan Page or Trick Williams and there's not a ton of franchise changing talent there). There's a million creative ways they could have used the briefcase. Why have a roomful of expensive writers if they can't come up with alternatives? This was just predictably redundant and not even close to as bad as what Punk did in Scotland.
