Sure, Canada's proven they can play on big ice but this time it's different. They'll go from playing on hybrid ice for their preliminary games to playing on bigger ice in a do-or-die game. There won't be any room for error or any time to get used to it. It's win or done. Not saying they can't do it, but it could be a factor.
That's true rink and ice are smaller in Helsinki Ice Hall
In Hartwall Arena where Finland plays all their games rink and ice are bigger.
But i don't think Canada has serious troubles in there.
Of course it can cause some minor problems when there's more space near the boards.
But Canadian players are very strong their physicality so that's not an issue necessarily.
Of course anything could happen when everything depends that how you'll play in do or die games.
I checked your ( Canada's) Final roster in WJC's that team what Canada has it looks very strong in paper.
And there's a lot serious scoring threat and also defence looks solid.
But i'm not sure Canadian goalies.
If Blackwood gets his god-mood on he can be one of the best goalies in U20's this year.
But there's that suspension what he got in OHL it keeps him away for 2 Canada's preliminary round games in Helsinki.
And if he don't integrate bigger ice and rink in do or die game it can be huge challenge for Canada.
But we'll see that later.
I'm not seen Canada's exhibition games but that what i read in Jatkoaika.com ( Finnish hockey board).
There some Finnish fans said Canada wasn't impressive at all against Czechs they win only 1-0.
But they dominated for against Belarus and beat them 7-1.
I don't believe that Canada has some huge troubles in bigger ice and rink.
But when ice and rink are bigger there's more space to keep puck longer than north american rink.
And game probably will be a bit slower than north american ice.
That slower game can frustrate Canadians if they wont get puck for themselves.
And frustration can cause stupid penalties for Canadians.
That's why they must stay out of penalty box in do or die game cause stupid penalties in that game will cost a lot.
However see you in World Juniors.
Welcome to Helsinki
