My biggest prediction! Tournament MVP will be Willy Nylander! and leafs fans of all shapes and sizes have a come to Jesus moment... how great the World Juniors are for player development and henceforth actively campaign, forever and ever amen, that all leafs prospects with junior eligibility remaining shall be released to their junior teams.

Canada, USA and Finland will medal. It's a toss up to which countries will get gold, silver and bronze.

1. Finland
2. USA
3. Russia

Sebastian Aho - Auston Matthews - Patrik Laine
Zach Werenski - Ivan Provorov
Brandon Halverson

For me the clearcut winner is Finland. All the stars and signs are aligned for domination with Laine and Puljujärvi at theyre draft year WJC in home ice. Sauce it up with Rantanen, Kapanen, Aho, Hintz, Nättinen and co and you got dynamite core. Head coach is non other than the lion king Jukka Jalonen, to make it overkill even mascot of the tournament is Teemu Selänne. Not a chance they will loose this.

Gold - Finland

Bronze - Czech Republic

Best Goalie - Daniel Vladar

Too many people predicting gold for finland = bad for finland lol

Better to have them predicted to get 5th place

:sarcasm:

That being said, I think either US, CAN, FIN will take it, but impossible to predict, but I'll go with USA.

The biggest thing with this tournament now is that all teams have to play a quarter final game. I like the idea even though my team has lost the last two years to the Russians in it. There will be a team that people expect to medal that bounces out in the Quarters because they didn't win the group, thus having to play a good team in the crossover. Just adds to the excitement.

1. Canada
2. Finland
3. USA
4. Sweden
5. Czech
6. Russia

Canada, Finland, USA, and Sweden are all very loaded up front with elite level scoring. However, Canada has the best defensive group in this tournament by far. They are all elite skaters and good two-way defencemen - that will be the difference in this tournament.

Lol not a single chance eh? I'll take Marner, Strome and Point or Matthews, Tkachuk, and Dvorak over any combination of Finns you just posted.

Prepare to be dissapointed then. Maybe they can snap a medal, but if you believe they will dominate the whole tournament, you are going to have a bad time.Hf boards's overhyping Finns at it's best.

I agree wholeheartedly. It's easy for Finns to overrate their team when they have a bunch of point producers and high draft picks, not realizing that Canada and the USA have an abundance of both of these every year

And how do those other years affect this year, when Finland actually does for once have a team that can rival others?

Maybe next year we'll be back to the usual programming with a slightly less studded Team Finland, but again, what does that have to do with this year's iteration?

This Finnish team definitely looks solid, and they will certainly be able to compete. But the guy said that there is no way Finland can lose this tournament. I'm not saying they have no chance, but I'd say they're still an underdog.

Of course we are, but it's nice to see we finally have a good team. Sweden, Canada and USA are better, so maybe we are fourth best on paper. But we'll see what happens when the tournament starts.

2. Sweden
3. Finland
4. USA

Yeah, calling them sure winners is over the top. Hard to say if said fellow was being serious or if it was a tongue-in-cheek statement.

However, I don't really agree with the "underdog" part (no matter how well said status makes it easier to play). It's an even group among the rest. Which means they can win it all, or some other equally good team can take it.

Regardless, all Finns here are excited to see what a studded team can do for once, especially when combined with those other factors that usually make them competitive, such as dedicated game plan and that extra grit they're so known for.
