who will it be? why them?

I think it's imperative that teams win in regulation. Ottawa can lose the next 4 straight, and yet if they beat both Detroit and CBJ in every game in regulation, they still surpass at least one of time.

in my opinion, if any of those teams is loosing 4-5 straight they are out of this race. too many teams there and the chances two of them are on the run till the end 9f the season is high.

As much as I hate it, I think NYR will likely make the playoffs.

It means we will be buyers at the deadline when we have absolutely no right to be. We should be all sell and get whatever assets we can to have a rebuild in the summer.

K Miller & Fox both left the game early last night which could be a major concern as Fox looks like a dislocated shoulder. Still not sure what happened to Miller.

If both are out, this is the only thing that will prevent us making it.

Since the coaching change the red wings seem the most consistent, it’s been quarter of a season but there’s always the chance they still fall back down to earth a little. I say Ottawa if they get healthy and the red wings with Columbus just missing. But honestly it’s a toss up, all 3 teams are pretty good and are just stuck in the parity blood bath of the east.

The Jackets getting back Jenner and with Chinakov and Gudbranson coming back soon, they basically added 3 quality pieces at the deadline for nothing. I think they end up 3rd in the division ahead of the Canes or Devils, homer glasses be damned

I have to say that CBJ are surpassing my expectations this season. I was expecting them to be in the bottom quarter of the league, with what happened in the off season. I'm impressed by their results this season, and they've had their share of injuries to key players also.

Dean Evason deserves to finish at the very least top 3 for the jack adams.

Then you have Ottawa out of this race?

They have lost 4 in a row.

My heart says Ottawa and Columbus. So I'll go with that.

But it's a crazy competitive race right now. And Detroit seems to be on a roll, unfortunately, since I'm the least interested in that team.

CBJ and Detroit. Two teams that have the highest floor of expectation from game to game. Every other team seems temperamental and is just as capable of losing 5 in a row after winning 5 in a row.

I think the Rangers make it.

After that, God knows.

Boston has the pedigree

Ottawa has the talent

Detroit has been mostly hot since playing the coach bump card

Columbus is playing with extra inspiration this year.

It will be the Rangers and of the above mentioned teams. I'll say Ottawa but none of them give me a whole lot of confidence. Not too long ago, I was thinking Rangers and bruins.

Who the hell knows, and the deadline will have a big impact on that.

NYR already made their big splash

CBJ and Detroit both have the assets and cap space to make a huge splash, but I don’t know how many huge names are still available

Boston could shuffle the roster but don’t have a ton of value they can trade and limited space

Ottawa only really has Yakemchuck who no way they trade and not a ton else to offer outside of other young roster players

It’s going to be a wild finish

Tampa isn’t entirely safe either, but should have a good enough cushion

Surely THIS is the year that Ottawa/Detroit/Columbus break through the established order!
