It's official. Lecavalier is out. That hurts. So much for this being a best-on-best tournment. It's turning out to be a pretty typical world championship.

If a a player is injured, he's injured. It's not like he refused to play or anything.

Posts in English only, please see sticky at top of board

Anyway, as has been stated, Lecavalier's out, Richards (recovering from surgery) and St. Louis (wife having difficult pregnancy) are doubtful. St. Louis left his Swiss team to return to North America to be with his wife, so I'd be really surprised if he participates. Richards' surgery was in December (I think) and supposedly had an 8 week recovery time, so who knows, he might get cleared to play.

And the "other" difference : you speak French with a weird accent :D

I'm only joking of course. And I really can't help making this joke, because the French taught me to always make jokes about "l'accent quebequois". :dunce:

Don't worry about it, I know we talk weird. If you and I were face to face you wouldn't understand half of what I was saying trust me, we have different accents and different terms, we also use alot of slang. Where did you learn your english though??

Just to clarify, Richard's surgery was January 19th per SP Times and he only started rehab a couple weeks ago.

And St. Louis' wife isn't due for two more weeks so he won't be playing.

Once again... I revised my lines, these should be closer to the final product:

LW - C - RW
Nash - Thornton - Heatley
Tanguay - Morrison - Bertuzzi (?)
Smyth - Horcoff - Doan
Morrow - Draper - Gagne
xtra: from AHL or CHL (ex. Crosby, Carter, Spezza, Bergeron)

-D-
Niedermayer - Aucoin
Regehr - Jovanovski
Redden - Hannan
xtra: Souray

-G-
Brodeur
Luongo
xtra: Turco

They've already said that Crosby (or any jr players) won't be on the team.

The question I have is whether or not they're going to leave roster spots open until some players have been eliminated from their playoffs.

I'd like to see Spezza at the WCs given the season he's having in the AHL, but I'd also like to see him win the Calder Cup and gain that experience for him and some of the others in the organization.

When do the AHL Playoffs end? I really wanna see Volchenkov play for Russia!

The playoffs most likely won't be over until the first week of June. The regular season ends on April 17, and then there are 4 rounds during the playoffs. At the moment Binghamton is in 1st place in their division, but they are battling 2 other teams.

Yeah but they have to. They must find a way to lose even if they're way better than the team that's going to beat them.

In 3 words : BINGHAMPTON MUST LOSE! Period!

I'm sorry for Sens fans, but there's too much at stake here. I mean Spezza for Canada and Volchenkov for Russia!!!

They say no junior players, but I think Patrice Bergeron could be an exception. He is an NHL player, and has been keepin in shape in the AHL..

Bergeron was on the World Championship team last year. He'll probably get another invite.

The WC start April 30, and Team Canada is going to have training camp, so Providence is going to have to miss the playoffs for him to get a invite.

Here's what I'd like to see, even if it probably won't or shouldn't happen.

Bertuzzi. Thornton. Heatley ( Would absolutely dominate with all that extra room )
Tanguay. Marleau. Nash
Smyth. Draper. Doan
Gagne. Primeau. Peca

Spares: Murray, Morrison, Morrow ( Not big on him, either )

Pronger. Redden
Souray. Aucoin ( Imagine all those point shots )
Regehr. Jovanovski

Spares: Hannan, Brewer ( Bouwmeester replaces Souray if he can play )

Brodeur. Luongo. Theodore

What happened to Belfour? Did he reject? or is he injured? IMO, if he were healthy he could even give Brodeur a run for his money. And what about Pronger? People are including him in their rosters but he hasn't been offered a spot yet, has he? Why? He would easily be Canada's best defenseman.

I don't understand how Mike Knuble isn't even being considered here. He's one of the few players who have been playing all year ( and dominating, as well - Chemistry with Morrison ). He's a physical player who can play effectively in a defensive role while still outscoring most of your defensive guys like Morrow or Gagne. You would have thought someone would have at least be brought him up by now.
Because he is american.

Knuble has played two World Championships, representing USA (1999 & 2001). He simply isn´t allowed to play for Team Canada under the IIHF rules, even if he was born in Canada.
