which pro scouts signed off on martinez and brodie in 2024, and who signed off on term and a nmc

Martinez was brought in to be a stop gap vet. It's a 1-year deal. You give up the NMC to bring him in.

The second year on Brodie never made sense though. I don't get what anyone in the Hawks org watched last year to suggest that deal was ever going to work out.

Can we stop with the Connor Bedard as a teenager statistics? Yes it's impressive but it's more of a result of him getting a ton of games as a teen because of his late birthday than anything else.

Last thing you want to do is get in the way of the circle jerk.

Giving a 2nd yr to Brody reminded me of the Cubs signing Trey Mancin to a yr deal deal. My response to both was, "why?".

Bruce Boudreau was far worse than Biz was in criticizing Berdard (it was a different panel)...He said Hawks would never win mich if Bedard did not make more teams scared of him(he implied the kid was not tough enough ...that he needed to handle the abuse agsibst him and make the opposition more scared of him)..I think this is a criticism of of 2 things..Bedard must fight through checks on hom better but also when teams go morevphysical on hom he has to do some stuff to make them more scared so that they stop such stuff...Boudreau said teams are not scared of Bedard (physically) and so if he wants to get to the hogh danger shotvareas more he has gotto fight tgrough the checks better and has got to develop sone tactics to prevent any liberties they take in stopping Bedard when he has the puck.

To sum up...I would sYay Boudreau was criticizing Bedard for being too soft...I do not think he meant Bedard should fight when teams take liberties against him,but I think he was hinting Bedard needs to respond more with other tactics when they target him ...more like some of the response tricks Goldie Jowe used (except fighting...because given his size Bedard fighting would be silky)..but maybe a slash at the back of a guy's legs or tge odd soear woukd stop the abuse and make the ops more scared to try what tgey have been getting away with..

In this sense Boudreau is actually right...Bedard should not be letting the opos get away with abusing hom..he shoukd be less "soft" ..And he has got to fight tgrough checks better and also be better goingg after pucksvon dimps and chase situations and not alwaysctrying fancy dan trying to carry pucks through layers of checks in his way..
Yes Bedard has to toughen up..but in my view Boudreau was also implying Bedard woukd never be a superstar as predicted for him...that he really does nit believe Bedard can change to make himself more scarey to the opposition..

He laid out a critique then gave judgenent tgat Bedard seems unable to fix the flaws preventing him from rising to elite greatness and many more goals that were predicted from his abilities.. He was judging that Bedard will never rise to superstar level because the opps justxare notscared of him and have ways to handle him so that he never will get tgexeasy open looks and never will never battle hard enough in his defensive checking either..he is judging Bedard can never get tough enough.

The criticism on Bedard's flaws is one thing ..but the judgenent that the kid will never fix these areas is to me why Boudreau's critique was worse than the one from Biz..

Sure both ignored the "only 19" excuse..rightfully..Bedard has played enough NHL games already to drop the kid excuse..

However the Hawks are a bad team and the no help excuse, those critiquing Bedard all seem to ignore..That is a big factor in why Bedard lags on goals scored compared to the generational expectation level he us supposed to achieve beating goalies with his shot.
The time in the o-zone is effected by who is onwoth Bedard and lower than optimal o-zone possession will not produce as many goals as would be the case if Bedard had better talent on with him.
However the criticism that Bedard has got to play tougher and make himself a greater threat to the opps is valid. When you are small you gotta do that else the bigger guys will "handke" you too easily..If you let them get away doing this you get shoved to the outside. Taken off pucks.. stopped when attacking..

But for Boudreau to judge Bedard willnever fix his flaws and be too soft forever I his career is very harsh...
Boudreau has already written Bedardvoff as never goibg to be a real top star in the league..and tgat is HARDH...it also signals tge Hawjs willbever consider Boudreau for any coaching job with them.

I certainly enjoyed that game. But it would have been nice for Nashville to win it just so they have a nice cushion over us in the standings. God they're bad

Martinez literally replaced Tinordi. Like he's NHL bad but he's not abysmal.

Martinez is way better than Tinordi, he's just overused. If Martinez was playing 15 minutes a night (like Tinordi was) instead of 20 minutes a night, he'd be fine. He's obviously out-matched playing tough matchups with Jones but in a depth role he'd be fine. He's not Brodie bad.
