I know it's really early but he looks even better. Petry was smooth, but he wasn't overly dynamic and he had those slow dangles that were alwaya dangerous for takeaways. Matheson looks more involved, faster with his stick.
Agreed he looks better then Petry did last season but that's not a high bar...

When Petry was motivated to play he was really good, here's hoping Mike the Mat is even better.

About Matheson... Petry became quite good at 28 too. This could be a hell of a steal if we basically got a younger Petry for a washed up one.
Well I described him as a left-handed Petry when we got him. He actually may be better i.e. more consistent defensively.

We won the trade no matter what. Petry wanted out and played like shit last season.

This trade still surprised me because I expected Petry to be traded for cap space. Hockey wise this is a good trade.

We also gave up Poehling, who I think could be a good bottom six guy, but you're right about Matheson. He's looked better than I expected so far.

If Evans stays healthy, he might land us a 2nd round pick at the deadline. He is a versatile piece for a team just missing a penalty killer, that can win faceoffs, chip in offensively, and grind it out. He's a solid player.

If you want goals, I'll just post Andrei K.'s interview every game. It's the second time the Habs score 2 in the following period after I shared the vid

I said the same at the time of the trade. When we got Petry he was at best a 25 point dman. It was the season when Weber started hurt that Petry really flourished, having to take on way more responsibility.

Once you accept that Barron isn't the showy/flashy type, you realize he plays a pretty solid game. Just don't expect him to carry the puck a lot or do anything cool with it. He complements Materson quite well.
If Barron develops into a top 4 that would be amazing.
He is a great skater.

Why on earth would you do that?
The first part of your post just doesn't match the second part lol

If Evans can stay healthy, he's a lock for 35 points in the bottom 6. Can also play PK, he will need to improve his faceoffs but he's been a good player for the habs. The kid can play.
