There are several names on the Canes roster I can't recall ever hearing before. "Courtesy" ice time before being sent off to wherever?

I don't recognize a lot of the BJ's roster either, but icing V. Rask means an almost certain W for Columbus.

I would consider driving up to Raleigh and Kicking Rod for constantly putting Martinook on the first line but he'd kick my ass.

I still hate it though. Also is there something I'm missing with Drury? Seems like he hasn't seen a lot of action thus far.

Drury’s gotten into 2 games so far, scored a goal and has been used a lot on the PK. I think him being on the opening night roster is a foregone conclusion.

I think they want to re-sign Stepan, but without putting both Gardiner and Pacioretty on LTIR, that’s not really possible without exposing Coghlan or Chatfield to waivers. Keeping Stepan may depend on whether or not they can get rid of Bear.

He was 55% in his 1st game and 30% in his second. I'm guessing in the second tilt he went up against Luostarinen a good bit who has looked pretty good so far this preseason.

Rod has even mentioned his FOs as a concern so he must be struggling in practice against NHLers

They should be able to start the season, put Gardiner and Pacioretty on LTIR, and then sign Stepan.

I don't think it matters when they sign him as it pertains to LTIR. They are already $3.5M over the cap today until someone goes on LTIR with a 22 man roster (12 F, 8 D, 2 G).

I think the concern is that if they only put Gardiner on LTIR, then that only leaves ~500K in space to sign someone. Assuming that Pacioretty comes back late in the season, if they sign Stepan (either now or a week into the season), they won't have the cap space to do so without waiving someone else / sending someone else down so you'd have to waive a Chatfield or Coghlan to make it work.

Trading Bear solves that issue though.
