A big win to advance in the ChL today. It looks like my next opponent will be the Aztecas from Mexico. Two Canadian and two American teams advanced, with the Arlington Betamax drawing the Kenora Stingers in the quarter finals.

I expect the bracket to unfold as follows:

Arlington Betamax (1) vs. Kenora Stingers (10)
--I'd pick Kenora Stingers to advance

Trueblue United (2) vs. NK Divlje Jagode (7)
--I'd pick NK Divlje Jagode to advance

Atreides (3) vs. Taibah F.C (6)
--I'd pick Atreides to advance

Boilermakers (4) vs. Aztecas (5)
--I'd pick Boilermakers to advance

Totally misread the source code of soccer today. Went into leg 2 with a 1-0 win at home. Originally read the source code as a 2-2 tie, thus advancing to the final-8 of the ChL 3-2. In fact it was a 3-1 loss with the final goal coming in the 88th minute. Had that goal not been scored I would have advanced 2-2 with away goals as the deciding factor  :shakehead

Ouch.

You have some disturbingly good youth. That Canadian forward is sick. And only 200M? Amazing deal. I'm not in the position to make those moves yet.

Thanks. Young is destined to be 4/6 next season, but he's actually started the last few matches due to Valina's low energy. At 73 Chem and 93 energy, he posted a 40 IGR today.

What kind of analysis are we talking about? Literally all I've done is compare your player ages/OR to mine. I think I've only done this somewhat seriously the last two seasons. When I was buying my latest group of Mids, I went after players who would be as good (in the case of Mark and Taganovich) or better (Seay & Piposiar). I'm very happy with this group. Hopefully a couple of them make it to 22yo at 5/6.

Part of the analysis has been comparing facilities and arenas. A different part of the analysis is looking at a team's roster and seeing how my team compares.

And depth is huge for me in soccer. My team can't seem to perform if I play less than Normal and play aggressive and hurry up. hat leads to less energy and suspensions galore lately. I'm running 3 forwards (McCready benched for CWC), 4 SMs, 9 dmen and 3-4 CMs.

I've tried to keep a similar rotation of "ready to play" players, with fewer dmen than you (3 side and 3 central). I'll want to expand that a bit over the next few seasons as it appears that I've been a bit low on energy when pushing to advance in the NC and ChL.

Edit: Finished scouting my first handball player.

Code:
Goa	FiP	Sho	Blk	Pas	Tec	Spe	Agr	Exp
11 19	14 29	13 03	17 42	13 35	16 04	14 20	13 07	0

Arlington Betamax (1) vs. Kenora Stingers (10)
--I'd pick Kenora Stingers to advance

Trueblue United (2) vs. NK Divlje Jagode (7)
--I'd pick NK Divlje Jagode to advance

Atreides (3) vs. Taibah F.C (6)
--I'd pick Atreides to advance

Boilermakers (4) vs. Aztecas (5)
--I'd pick Boilermakers to advance

Had I won your series wouldn't have been impacted but I'd have faced Arlington (winable) while Kenora beat Trueblue and NKDJ beat Atreides. Would make for an all-North-American final-4. Sorry to let you all down :shakehead

Damn. I fell to the Coronas today. I thought I went H/H, but played N in the IRS half. 2-3 final. I didn't lose any ground in the standings, bu I think everyone would have been happy if I could have stolen some points today:nod:

That's how i would prefer to do it. I actually started the season with only two SDs and one CD. The rest were just prospects. I meant to add a CD immediately and get he two young CDs some spot starts. The top 3 all hit 30 IGR at some point. The two young CDs have been at 23 almost the whole season(poor ratios or jut exhaustion?). Then I was forced to use two 18yo(?) players who weren't really in the plan(but probably should have been to be honest). And of course I added two more old guys just to add some bodies. So the whole defensive rotation was only 5 guys for most of the season. When I said it's a 9 man rotation, I meant going forward.

Do you think Young will ever be a starter for you? He's so sick, but it must be pretty hard to give him PT knowing that he might be 3/6 at 21 freaking years old. Still a ridiculous player.

LMAO at that handball player.

2-3 against Corona is still a pretty good effort. I'll be on the road against them on Tuesday and a win or a draw would go a long way towards winning the league.

I currently have 15 d-men on the roster (8 center and 7 side). Of those, only 1 SD is over 20 years old. CD is a different story, with the top 3 being 23, 21 and 21. Their current IGRs are down to 32 (78 energy), 28 (78 energy) and 30 (99 energy). Perhaps I should have done a better job of subbing the back-up in this season. I have some talent coming up at CD, but none of the others are over 17. I'd love to upgrade there, but as I've stated before, I've had difficulty finding upgrades there.

I expect to have Young starting next season. He would replace Valina who is 22 and in his 2nd season at 3/6, so the CL issue isn't a big deal in this case. I may or may not sell Valina, as the #3 forward is still

LMAO at that handball player.

At least his AQ went up from its initial unscouted value (1 AQ to 21 AQ!)

Knocked off Kenora with my B-squad today. Never thought I'd say that. VH/VH vs VL/VL mind you. Down 2-0 early and stormed back to win 3-2. This makes the title race interesting since Kenora and NKDJ are tied and they play on Sunday...

That's awesome:yo: that had to mess with his mind.

Yeah. I would have been happy with a point, but I was hoping my 5-4-1 could pull off another upset for me. I can't believe I forgot to play on High in the first:shakehead

I was in a similar situation at the start of the season. Two 22yo, one 21yo, and one 19yo. The rest of the defense was three 18s and a 16(damn. Just realized Coates hasn't played a game this season). I thought i was in pretty good shape. When I added those three 20yo Mids back in Feb/March, I thought I could do the same on the backend. Moron. It took me entirely too long to lower the standards. I still can't believe how much I screwed up my entire season with this one bone-headed decision.

I guess this was a transition year for me anyway. Replacing 3/4 of the Midfield, and I've pretty much 'replaced' Stamper too by fixing his training, is a big move. But it had to be done. And I expect them all to pull 30+ igr next season.

Hell, I sold 2/5 of my defense, as well. wow. That's a lot of turnover. Thats half of my freaking team:help: That's not the smartest thing ever. Anyway five of the dmen should pull 30+, too. the younger guys won't be too far behind.

And I need to add a great young SD. Paquet is already 3/6. He could have been so good, but 49 days lost to injury is tough. I don't think I have anyone close to that. Anyone else have an injury prone player with more?

Hopefully this season's trials and tribulations pay off. I certainly expect much better things next season. I might even be able to compete for third if I can control myself and not burn out my team. That's goin to be really hard:naughty:

I've been looking a little into statistics and found out one amazing thing about my team: out of all teams in my league i have the fewest blocked shots - 8 (not counting today's game since stats update is kind of slow), next lowest has 11, highest are 24 and 25. Still i have 11 straight wins. Had my pivot dominate again today with 8 goals in 1st half and 3 more in 2nd, with me and my oponent going VH the whole game, i won by 14 goals difference despite being a visitor. I think i've developed a crush on this pivot position, will put my best player there for sure :)

Also looked at schedule and see there are 52 (!) games before playoffs even start, any plans how you intent to get there? L+N or VL+L? I think energy is gonna get very low for everyone by the time playoffs arrive. Seem we'll need to play almost entire rooster to keep energy balanced and not have top players exhausted by playoffs.

I'm just going to burn through the energy at the beginning. The players we start with will all be replaced ASAP. So I'm goin to kill them all:naughty:

Reminder, there is a chance to get 0 pulls with a level 1 & 2 Sports Academy. You might want to build up to level 3 before pulling.

Dammit! That's my plan! And yes, I'm going to get lvl 3 SA build ASAP come Monday.

Damn! This makes so much sense and is so logical i never would have thought of it! Thanks for the tip :)

I pulled today one rookie as SA upgraded today, and tomorrow i got another pull. Got a normal trash player, and i'm hoping to get one tomorrow too. If I by some chance pull a 5* 6/6 200 OR guy I'll get so freakin mad!!

canucks357 if you're still interested in buying some young players let me know i have two players with 86% and 88% EQ at their position scouted that are on the market.

I have a hard time conserving energy as well. I do plan to improve my depth somewhat over the next season or two.

-----------

My goalie played in the NT qualification match today at center forward. His 12 IGR doesn't impress, but he did manage to score a goal and get an assist.

Thanks, I'll take a crack at the first guy. I may need to rename RCR to Slovenia U18 though

I'm just happy they go to a team with max. training. A 15 year old with 6/6 and EQ 88% was sold earlier in the week but went to a team that only has lvl 13 training (building lvl 14, hopefully continues building).

Maybe then you'll get the chance to manage our national u18 team too :)

Good lord. Slovenia is just pumping out the studs left and right. I wonder if that's happening in the US and no one is noticing?

I saw that:laugh: Spicer is amazing. Did you see what RunnyOnion said? He tore up his knee ligaments and has been on Meds the last week or so. I can't believe we won with a goalie at CF:laugh:

Your team is insanely good. How they keep performing when their energy is low is amazing. My guys get close to 80 and go right to sleep. I know it isn't as big a problem lately, but I remember you were winning I.1 with guys closer to 70 than 80. Are you in the same situation again? I never check your ChL matches. Maybe you're burning energy over there. I don't know how you do it.

And holy crap! What is Sandy Bragg taking lately? I stopped following the league leaders when I decided I had to save McCready for the CWC. I think we were separated by one goal at that point. Now Bragg is up to 42 goals?!?! Wow. I wonder why they don't get any playing time on the NT? Two of the best goal scorers in I.1 history:dunno:

I don't think we're producing any more talented players than normal, it's just that now we scour the leagues to find them and put them on market.

It is happening in every country. If you're interested in helping your NTs in the future you can check all teams in your country from time to time. For example few seasons back i had a friendly game with a team from USA that started about the same time as me (I kind of keep track of these teams as 'rivals' to see how others who started around same time as me are doing), anyway i scouted few of his rookies and saw he pulled a stud:

SCREEN - Think he was around 260 or 270 when pulled, now obviously its too late but he sure did look prommising (i actually tried to put him in your NT database when he was 15 or 16, not sure if it worked).

I saw Runny's post. Winning while conserving energy is definitely a plus, especially if we were able to build chemistry in the process.

My team has hit the energy cliff and is on the way down. Hopefully my backups are able to step in and keep the ship sailing straight. Five of my players are currently in the high 70s for energy. I try to conserve energy in the round robin phase of the ChL and then ramp up the energy usage depending on the playoff matches. My NC run also took a toll on my team's energy and there was at least one instance where I played VH in a league match due to not changing my tactics :(

Bragg put together a nice streak not too long ago:
Match 26: 4 goals
Match 27: 2 goals, 1 assist
Match 28: 6 goals

Hudson Young (the 18 year old Canadian) is now getting a higher IGR than Bragg (due to energy) and may finish the season as my second highest goal scorer. Bragg's 10 assists is also impressive. The highest goal scorer with that many assists has 7 goals. Bragg has never made the NT and is most likely a product of the system. He's also now sitting at 200 goals in I.1.....

Handball starting up tomorrow. To take advantage of multiple games/day through credit tournaments (I presume they still give OTR despite not giving any ticket revenue), who all is down? Would be 10 credit entry fee then all credits are redistributed back from the winners (net loss of 50 credits divided by number of participating teams).

Dammit. I forgot to finalize the lineup/tactics for today's match. Freaking game starts in 5 minutes and I completely forgot about it. Looks like I have 3 young dmen in there, the entire midfield is made up of backups, and Lemieux is my only forward. Crap. And I'm only playing on Normal. That's bad. And the backup goalie. Ugh.

Well damn. We're probably falling down on the job in the US. It wouldn't take much to check for new pulls. This might actually be a good job for the NT assistants. Three guys could probably handle the US pretty easily.

I call bullcrap. I've never seen your team fall off the energy cliff:shakehead That was one of the reasons why I stated burning more energy in recent seasons. You were still winning and burning energy while I was using subs to keep energy up. But my guys were still being outperformed. Although you having a better team probably had something to do with that:D

Bragg put together a nice streak not too long ago:
Match 26: 4 goals

Eff me:laugh: 12 goals in 3 games. Damn.

I know his CL is weak, but that's a damn fine player for 200M. That OR will put him ahead of the curve for a long time. And at such a valuable position!

Jalon is looking good too. I just noticed him. I guess I was blinded by Young the last time I looked at your team. *adds to scouting*

There will be no OTR gained from Credit Tourneys.
